I don't know how long you have had your cat, or if you know where she originally came from, but I have the same problem with one of mine. I have 3 cats, and 2 of them are brothers that my boss gave to me. Her boyfriend no longer wanted them around. Apparently he use to kick the one who is skiddish. So when, I reach for him, he tends to run. But there are times, when he comes up to me so I can rub him. I beleive animals can be tramatized just like a human. So, I just try to show him all the love I can, and when he does come to me I count my blessins. My other cats can't get enough attention!

We've had my cat for about a year. She doesn't like to be picked up. That could be the reason they only want to be held when they want to. unlike dogs

Some cats just don't like to be picked up. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong.

My angel Scooter loved to be picked up and hugged. Angel Rusty wasn't too pleased at first, but as he got older he began to like it sometimes. My current kitty, Scamper, hates to be picked up. He's just as affectionate as the others, in his own way, but he just doesn't like being picked up.

So don't worry if your kitty doesn't like you to pick her up. Just try to avoid picking her up any more than really necessary.

My cat does that. It just doesn't want to be held. It feels natural on the ground.

she probably doesn't like being held. I have one like that, as soon as you pick her up, she fights until you put her down. I don't think it's the height thing, I think it's just being held, or confined thing
