Predestination and election. Either a person believes what the Bible teaches or they do not. To believe only part of it is the same as not believing it at all!

There are some things that too many Christians disagree on and this is one of them....we are not to argue over them, the most important thing is that you know Christ died for your sins and that you have accepted Him as your Lord and Saviour that is the bottom line. All religions think that they are right, but all who are saved get to heaven we will know the truth, there are scriptures to back up both opinions on this subject. Two that come to mind are "You have not chosen me but I have chosen you" and the other "Whosoever shall call up on the Lord shall be saved." Whosoever includes anyone. Remember the Jews were Gods chosen people. It is definately a good study, but like I said it is the bottom line that counts when all is said and done. So be happy in the Lord and thankful that you are saved. God Bless

I don't believe the Bible teaches predestination and election. Many times, scripture is taken out of context to support certain views.

Because it is the church and not the bible which was given the authority by Christ to make rules and to do things like ruling on what the bible really says.

The church produced the bible. The bible did not produce the church.

Election basicly refers to anyone on whom God chooses to bestow his grace.

Predestination means that the will of God cannot be thwarted by man, but it does not mean we are all puppets that have no choice.

Unless you believe what Calvin teaches, but then you would be in the extreme minority.

What part of this do you not understand?

Predestination and election are heretical misinterpretations of Scripture. After all "predestination" doesn't even appear as a term in Scripture. That's how a Christian can reject such false doctrines.

I agree that much of the Bible is taken out of context or read without the proper historical knowledge of why it was said. The biggest problem is people believing what they want to belive or getting hung up on issues that arent even biblical but merely man-made traditions.

Much of the bible is taken out of context. Many read a verse and stop there, failing to read on for further explanation.

Because the Bible does not teach predestination.
Eccl.9:11 states ".....time and unforeseen occurance befall them all".
In Deut.30:19,Jehovah God himself says to the nation of Israel-"....that I have put life and death before you,the blessing and the malediction, and you must choose life in order that you make keep alive....."

I don't agree with that. I think most people miss a lot of important points when investigating the Bible. I don't think it was meant to be taken as word-for-word literal truth.
