If the race is in a straight line, then you are second.
If the race is in a circle, then it is possible to be first because you just lapped the second place racer. But it is not much of a race then.

How many persons are in the race?
If it's just me and "the second person" I have to be in first place.

That depends, if you were in last, and you overtook a second person you would be third, if there are 5 people.
If you over took the person that was in second place, then you assume second place.

Depends on when you intended to detonate the bomb strapped to your chest so as to kill the infidels.
Either way, you will not be around to finish the race, although parts of you might be blasted across the finish line.
