the continuous evaporation/condensation cycle engine was
sorta done by two people that never really worked together.
The first guy invented the heat transfer engine. I think it was
called the "sterling cycle".
Lord Kelvin (UK) was a scientist/engineer that studied thermodynamics. The first refrigerator was called the "Kelvinator". The temperature scale "Kelvin" was named after him.
Question for the reader: What is the scale of "Kelvin" based on?
google all of this stuff and you might find details.
Do your own homework, don't take my word for anything.

The concept had been "discovered" in the 19TH century but we had to await for the discovery of the compressor somewhere in the 30s for a successful model. Please contact me for the name of the folk who conceived the simple refrigeration cycle.
