I believe in gross for tithing. The Bible says bring the First fruits. Because I do this, if i get a tax refund, I figure it has been tithed on. I do know people who tithe on net and they are blessed. But then they tithe on tax refunds. I think we should tithe on time and gifts. And if you are self employed, figure a salary and tithe on that. If at the end of the year you make more, then give on that.

Gross. However in the old testament they actually were tithing more than the 10% if you study it out, most pastors will use the old testament for the 10% tithe, the new testament says to give with a cheerful heart. John Mac Arthur has a great set of tapes on tithing will take you from the old testament and all of the tithes they paid thru the new testament, old testament tithes were actually closer to 33 to 35%....if you are interested in the study you can order the tapes 1-800-55-Grace

I really don't think it makes a difference. People should give what they can afford 10%, 5%, or their time. I say do what is comfortable for you and your family situation.
