I want to quit smoking, I have been smoking since I was 11years old and I am now 48 ARGHHHHHH...
I smoke about a pack a day
I was wondering if anybody knows if a Dr. can prescribe something to help me quit, so my insurance will pay for it, I really can't spend $40-$50 right now for nicorette or the patch. I have an appointment in a few hours and I don't want to waste his time as well as mine.

My dear, there is one important thing you must not joke with in this life and the thing is to know God. If u knew that there is one supreme being, you would have known that even if a doctor can not prescribe any drug for u to quit smoking that God is able to do that. God is never happy when we are going astray and at the moment we long to return, He will help us. Just be serious, determine to quit then call on God for His help and you will be surprised to see that what u think that can not be done is not impossible for God to do only trust, believe and hope in Him. Make Him your friend and your problems will be solved in a twinkle of an eye.

since you smoke that much everyday, your body got adjusted having these poisons running ur body. That's why people with more serious drug problems can actually die by quiting abruptly. You hav to take decrease your amount of cigarettes maybe every few weeks or whatever you're comfortable with. The reason why you were coughing and stuff (tryign to not smoke) was because your body was so used to having 2-5 cigarettes a day. So each week you should decrease slowly from 2-4cigarettes, then another few weeks, 2-3, then so on.

I've quit with only an out lay of about £5!

I bought a book by Allan Carr for quitting and it REALLY helped! (into week 9 now after smoking for 15 years)

Go to Quitnet.com. A self help site for people who want to quit. I used to smoke 4 packs a day and this site was a big help. Just quit cold turkey. Two days and the physical addiction is OVER! Use cinnamon sticks as a crutch.

I had smoked from about 12 until I was 48 too. I had tried cold turkey, Nicorette gum, tranquilizers, hypnosis, and the patches. Then I had my larynx removed from cancer. I was hospitalized 10 days, 5 of which I was unconscious. When I came to, they said I could have a patch if I wanted one. I said no. I have been smoke free ever since.

Your already 48 you shouldnt quit. Were all going to die anyway so what difference does it make if you stop smoking? Youd be getting cancer or any ailments so dont worry about quiting life is short If God wants to take us he'll take us So lets smoke to that. Were burning away every minute of our life.

My wife smoked about 20 years. She quit because I asked her to. She just smoked fewer and fewer until she quit. The less you smoke, the less you need to. Limit yourself to 5 a day...then 3....then 1....then quit.

You do not need a doctor to stop smoking.

All you have to do is stop smoking right now and throw away all cigarettes that you have left.

Most importantly, DO NOT TELL ANYONE that you have stopped smoking. Let your friends and family discover this by themselves. You will be surprised how long it is going to take them.
