I've noticed more and more boys/young men who appear to spend ridiculous amounts of time and money on their appearance. There's nothing wrong with taking pride in how you look, but the extremes that some people seem to go to - just to look like everyone else really makes me laugh.

The thing that makes me laugh the most is the 'Wind tunnel' hair. Styled to the extreme with god knows what gunk into some kind of spiky mess which literally looks liked they've dipped their head in gel then stood in a wind tunnel to style it. It must take them hours! Every hair looks like it has been meticulously placed.

I know that it's all about fashion, but they just look like they are trying too hard - cool people look like they are not trying, that's why they are cool. Relax guys, be confident in yourself, you don't need half a tub of wax on your head to pull the birds!

If you want an example of what I mean, just have a look at McFly. www.mcflyofficial.com

The thing that annoys me the most is when the gel says "for that messed up look" it like you spend hours on you hair to make it look a mess??? WTF!

I get out of bed and have that for free.

I know!! Whats with that? Gone are the days when women were hogging the bathroom. Now we sit around for hours waiting for the menfolk to get their arses into gear.
There's definatly been a huge role reversal here, most of my friends can go from out of the shower to gorgeous in 15 mins flat. Those who can't......are men.

Why should it concern anbody, apart from those who have to share the bathroom with them, how much time people spend on their personal grooming? I'm a soap and water, brush the teeth, out in two minutes chap, but if someone wants to spend hours with their gels and whatever, that's entirely up to them. Cool your boots, man.

I think this is because these days, boys are worried about the way girls look at them , because younger girls are also much the same and really applying heaps of make up , and doing themselves right up , even if they are only going down the shops, they make there appearance up like there visiting the queen.

I've just been on holiday with one girl and three guys, and the guys spent far more time getting ready than the girls. I think it's an interesting change in behaviour, but not really a problem - if it makes them feel better about themselves, why shouldn't they put the effort in?

lol its funny you mention this. Just this past weekend me and my boyfriend were getting ready to go out and I was nagging HIM to hurry and finish getting ready! He's 26 and everything has to look perfect before he can step out the door! I always make fun of him cause he even irons his clothes to go to the gym or to go just down the road to the drug store!
Don't get me wrong, I like that he takes care of his appearance. I wouldn't want him looking sloppy, but sometimes he takes it too far!

Nothing worse than a man who spends longer in the mirror than his woman. I like a man to have good hygiene and good dress sense but not a vain man... It's horrible. Natural beauty applies to both sexes.

There's a term for that now, they are called Metrosexual. Guys are actually finding it okay to spend time and money looking good without seeming gay.

I agree, i prefer the more manly man, not one that spends more time getting ready in the morning than me or that i have to fight with to get into the bathroom for the mirror!

todays society is one where u are judged by looks first, so if it makes them feel good to spend hours infront of a mirror and it gives them the self confidence, then i dont see the problem with it.
