People doesn't know what the modern idols are. Icons. Icons and idols all in, around and on top of the churches, and no idea about it.

Then the secular modern idols, -------money, materialism, music and the singers, sports players. Wow, how the music industry is worshiped. People will know the everything about a singer, absolutely everything. Yet, all they'll know about Christ will pertain to Christmas and Easter.

In a manner of kindness, we have to try to save them from that.

Idol worship is nothing but praying a GOD through an idol of GOD. There is nothing wrong in it. We pary GOD through that idol. Finally we are chanting the name of the GOD and the prayers are going to the GOD. Idol is just a medium.

I do. He didn't forbid me from doing that. God is spirit and energy. Agreed. He is one. Agreed. What you fail to understand is that he is so omnipotent that he manifests himself in any form one thinks of. In my religion(Hindu) he appeared to many intensely religious/pious persons, in the form they worshipped. What is important is the purity of heart. God is such a being that he cannot be confined in one simple definition. If you call a stone, a stone. It is a stone. But, the so called idol worshippers, do not worship it as a mere stone. They consider it as a symbol, just as a Cross is a symbol. Many Muslims offer their prayers facing towards the direction of Mecca. Many look up, heaven ward, intending to show devotion to God. Complex concepts, such as God, cannot be comprehended except through a medium of symbol. Christian religion is 2000 years old. Christianity, in these 2000 years have given way to many different interpretations and theological differences and varied symbols. While so, is it not legitimate that in these so-called pagan religions, there are so many gods, as different people saw the ultimate God, according to their dispositions and perceptions. Hindu religion is admittedly the oldest religion in the world. Do not judge this religion, by the prejudiced and one sided dogmas of Christianity. The theology of Hindu religion, is by far the most convincing and logical.

Who told you that?
Did you read it from a copy of an ancient book that has been translated down to what the bible is today?
It is an excellent work of fiction, from some very talented writers, especially considering it age! However, to live your life by it is much like living your life based on a Stephen King novel!

So, you're saying your idol says I can't worship any other idols? I think we'll have to report your idol to the Monopolies and Mergers Authority.

I've developed a certain fondness for some of my fellow atheists on this board; and since I've never actually met them, then I suppose technically that's a form of idol-worship.

I can just hear them laughing now....
