I have a copy of Windows Vista Beta that I got from Microsoft.

If ya want proof, send me an email, I'll take some pics of my pc, etc.........

Anyway, So far I have enjoyed it. It is a very animated OS. very smooth running, very beautiful in every aspect, but with enough hints of XP that it feels comfortable.

What I dont like is that users pc's have to meet Vistas specs to get the full enjoyment of the OS.

Minimum supported system requirements
PCs that meet the minimum supported system requirements will be able to run the core features of Windows Vista with the basic user experience.

Windows Vista Minimum Supported System Requirements
Processor 800 MHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1
System Memory 512 MB
GPU SVGA (800x600)
Graphics Memory -
HDD 20 GB
HDD Free Space 15 GB
Optical Drive CD-ROM drive2
Audio -
Internet -

1) Processor speed is specified as the nominal operational processor frequency for the device. Some processors have power management which allows the processor to run at a lower rate to save power.
2) The CD-ROM may be external (not integral, not built into the system).

I'm running almost 2GHz processor speed, 1gig RAM, 256MB Graphics Memory, 500gigs of hd space (3 hd's), DVD/CD burner combo, etc, etc, and I score a 2 on their specs.

Would I buy it when its released? Yes, just for something different, but I too am still happy with my XP Pro

Vista is just a beefed up windows server 2003 edition in terms of graphics. The suggested memory is 1GB although it will run on 512mb also. I think you also need a 256 mb video card. In short, it is very resource heavy. Probably not worth the upgrade
