google earth is a brilliant peice of software,and another similar program is "nasa world wind" avalible from http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/
this is different to google earth as this program is real time,and is great for predicting weather,its not as easy to use as g/e but there is a tutorial in it so you can give it a go

A web equivalent is Microsoft Local Live search for that in your browser.
