Everyone is different hon.
I had breast cancer 2x, once in 02 and in 03, in my right breast the first time, left the 2nd.
I had a lumpectomy the first time , 4 mos of chemo, 6 weeks of radiation. Yes, I lost my hair, was on 3 different chemos. Now, I was knocked down , but that is just me from the chemo.
The cancer itself didnt' hurt, the surgery did a little , but that was short lived.
I had a double mast in 03, and it was painful, but I got through it. THe chemo was 6mos and rads 7 weeks.
It wasn't as bad as the first time. I got through it. The pain itself isn't bad.
THey will give her meds to help her out. If she has any discomfort, make sure she tells her drs and they will help her.
Its okay for her to have bad days, and you too..but try and stay postive. Bad moods will come, and thats okay, get it out.
Keep the Faith..many prayers for all of you

Yes, it very well could be...and will also be painful on the family too. You're not discriptive with your question and didn't say what kind of cancer or if it has matastified or not.

Is your mother having Chemo? Radiation? Both of which will cause her to be ill...She'll feel good for about 2 days...then the Chemo will start again. She'll be tired....

Have they proceeded with a mastectory? lumpectomy? radical?

My mother had a radical mastectomy many years ago.....I can remember all the pain, and agony she went thru....and to this day still suffers from the effects of the radiation done. Keep in mind though this procedure was done to my MOM back in 1971....BUT....my mother is now 75 and is a survivor of the big C.......

I had breast cancer last year. The mental part is the worst part. The more love you have, the family, the friends, etc the easier it gets. I had a lumpectomy, 4 months of chemo, and 2 months of radiation every single day. I lost all my hair. I never missed a day of work. The only time I lost from work was when I left two hours early, every other week, to go to chemo. They have wonderful drugs now for the neasea and they supply you with pain killers just in case you need them. The worst part is waiting for all the diagnosises and waiting for appointments. The mental stress is the worst. It does get depressing, I won't kind you and she will be tired, but she will survive. She will need alot of love and support. Let her cry if she wants to, it helps. Please email me if I can be of any further help. My prayers are with her and you family.

I`m sorry that your mom is having to go through this and sorry for you to have to watch. My mother is in remission and has been for 7 years now,I do not know what kind of treatments they have planned for her, chemo or radiation or both? My mom had chemo and I took her to every treatment and it was hard to watch, some days were hard for her and yes she was in pain, I do not wish this on nobody. Use this time for helping her in anyway she needs. My mother and I talked alot about everything and it made us closer than ever.I wish The best for you both. Now I am watching my father go through Pancreatic Cancer and he is in his finally stages and death is near. What I have learned from my own expriences with both my parents is that cancer is ugly and breast cancer can be controlled with treatment and meds the hopes to breast cancer are rising everyday. Good doctors and never giving up will help your mother in many ways. My heart goes out to you and your mom. Pray and talk and be there for whatever she needs. All will be okay, take one day at a time and always ask the doctor what you want,it will help you in many ways. Good Luck and God Bless!!

My mom's been a cancer survivor for 7 years - having gone the totally alternative route via diet and attitude (no drugs, surgery or chemo). At the time, she had the advantage of working in the library and did an extensive amount of research on cancer.
I made much of this information publicly available on a "Health" folder I created in my Yahoo Briefcase. There's other documents and research there, as well, which you might also find useful (high protein diets, building up the immune system, ideal blood tests, macular degeneration, diabetic neuropathy, free radicals, antioxidants, phytonutrients, synthetic vitamins vs whole food, etc). http://briefcase.yahoo.com/apuzyr

Above all, stand by your mom. "There is no gift you can give your mother which can repay the gift that your mother gave you."

I am four years breast cancer free. Do be kind to your mother even if she gets a little annoying. If you go the traditional route of surgery and chemo there is some pain involved. Later if she gets on cancer drugs like tamoxifen or femara, there are mood swings involved. Best of luck on whichever treatment you choose.

It can be.
Try to give her the herb called Geranium Robertianum (both in tea and capsules). It has performed true miracles in all types of cancer.
I have cancer, too, a cervical one, stage 3, surgery not possible, and I am taking this herb right now (6 capsules a day, 2x3times a day). I believe it will help.
God bless your mother, and don't forget to pray for her. It is most important than you can believe.

Grape, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I think it would all depend on what stage of cancer your mother is in. AND yes, it can be very painful. I wish her the best.

Sorry to hear that. It depends on the stage the cancer is at. But yes, if it needs an operation, it will be painful for her - both psychologically and physically. If she becomes irritable, be patient with her dear.
