You can change your attitude towards the man who works long and hard to support you, and do all you can to help out at home.

Well, I grew up hardly seeing my dad. He's still a complete workaholic. It's all he can talk about. He is incapable of having a conversation about anything else. I barely knew the man and we never had a relationship at all. It certainly had a negative effect on me. I had no male role-model so had to make my own role-models. I had no male-guidance so I had to work it all out for myself. It's a big part of why I'm in my mid 20's and really screwed up.

I am certainly not a workaholic. I made a resolution not to be like that, and it worked too well. I'm extremely lazy.

There is nothing you can do. My dad is like that. He is pushing 88 and still works 8-10 hrs a day even though he is retired. Unfortunately I start noticing in me signs of workoholism and I try my best to cure it.

A good rule of thumb is to remember the things that you dislike about your parents and try not to do them. The things that you like try to do them.
