Yes. But isn't it the religious moderates - the open-minded, liberal, up-with-the-times religious folk - who make religion much harder to criticize? Faith and its dangerous pathways (i.e., the extreme, literal beliefs of fundamentalists) are almost protected by the "good name" that religious moderates give their faith. When the moderates take their moderation and reasoning a bit further and realize religion isn't necessary, it'll be far easier to condemn those that take an ancient, out-of-date text to heart and cause so much destruction and ill-will.

"fundamentalist religios types" are just as out of it as you are. true faith is so much more than you or they can imagine. a true relationship with God doesnt even compare to what people seem to think. stop putting God in a box. peoples views may be tainted, but he is not.
