Hi, I am travelling to India this September (Rajasthan) and would like to know which rolls of film I should get for my Canon EOS 500N to do mainly outdoor photography, landscape and portraits. I would like to render the vivid colours of people clothes as well as the light on monuments on different times of the day. What would you suggest me? should I go for Fuji Nexia or Superia or Kodak? should I opt for 400 ISO or 800 ISO?

One more vote for Fuji! Stick with 200 for daylight. And remember to take the film in a lead lined bag through the airports. Do not put it in your checked luggage! They zap it with much higher doses of x-rays there!

See if you can get your film developed and printed there, so you won't have to worry about bringing the film through the airports again. Exposed film is even more sensitive to x-rays.

If you can, also bring 200 ISO for daylight. Use 400 when you need a faster film. Make sure you have security at the airport hand inspect your film. I vote for Fuji film.

I traveled allot and think Fuji film has produced better colors. I would use ISO 400, would be fine. ISO 800 might look a bit grainy especially if you want to have a picture enlarged. Enjoy your trip.

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE OTHERS. I WOULD GO WITH FUJI SUPERIA FOR BETTER COLOR SATURATION. STICK WITH ASA 400 WITH BALANCED FILL FLASH IF YOU KNOW HOW TO DO IT. ALSO XRAY OF ANY ASA OVER 400 IS SUBJECT TO DAMAGE BY AIRPORT XRAY BOTH IN US AND PARTICULARLY OUT OF THE COUNTRY WHERE THE DOSAGE IS MUCH HIGHER AND IN SOME PLACES I READ IT COULD EVEN DAMAGE ASA 400. EITHER HAVE THE FILM PROCESSED ABROAD OR TRANSPORT THE FILM IN SPECIAL CONTAINERS DESIGNED TO GO THRU XRAY MACHINES WITHOUT DAMAGING THE FILM. MOST LARGER PHOTO STORES CARRY THEM. YOU MAY WANT TO CARRY ONE ROLL OF 800 ON YOUR PERSON. YOU ALSO MAY TAKE THE FILM OUT OF THEIR CONTAINERS AND PUT THEM ALL IN A PLASTIC ZIP LOCK BAG AND HAND IT TO THE AIRPORT PEOPLE ASKING FOR A HAND INSPECTION BOTH COMING AND GOING. DONT PACK IT IN A SUITCASE,PURSE OR CAMERA BAG. THIS USUALLY WORKS FOR ME SO LONG AS YOU TAKE THE FILM OUT OF THE CANISTERS.
