Do you hate the Blessed Mother or something? What's wrong with asking God's mother for help? I say this prayer every time I hear a fire truck cuz I know someone is in trouble. We do not think Mary is God and we do not Worship her like many falsely claim we do. We do honor her, and feel we can talk to her, because after all Jesus was our brother and therefore she our mother, why not talk to her?

Oh and by the way, you have it wrong.. so I'll help you, just in case you would like to open your heart and show her some respect, instead of insulting those who do..

Hail Mary, FULL of grace,
The Lord is with thee,
Blessed art thou,
Amoungst women,
And blessed is the fruit,
of thy wumb(sp?) Jesus,
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the end of our death,
Amen.

I take that prayer seriously, and have said it many times. If you have a problem with that then it is your problem.

No, and shame on you for making a joke of it,
Why can't you be more respectful of your question?

I started out catholic, and when i grew up, i just dropped the catholic church, because i divorced, and a few other reasons, i am now Christian, and i have heard christians say it is wrong to pray to idols and saints, etc,
i do not believe the millions who pray to the virgin mary are meaning to disrespect GOD AND JESUS, NOR worship idols, i think that as far as Mary, the mother of GOD, it is just respect, (this is my opinion) I am not basing this on any documentation) It just seems to me that the mother of God, the chosen pure female who is honored as high as any soul could be, if prayed to not instead of God, but in addition to, just to acknowledge her divine presence in heaven with her son is not a bad thing,

i can not imagine Jesus being offended by anyone talking to his mother, or sending him a message thru his mother, thats my answer,

"I'm sorry, God can't come to the phone right now, I'm the Virgin Mary...no, really...No I never looked at that Roman soldier, honest...anyway, I'm here now and that was all a long time ago...No comment. No, no comment. No he's not here either...he's out burying dinosaur bones with his Dad...you know what boys are. Look, can I help you or not? Oh alright, I'll put a word in when they get back, but I'm not promising anything. Alright, thank you, have a good day now..."

Catholics share the belief in the Communion of Saints with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, and Episcopal Churches.

The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.

Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints. You, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.

As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends here on earth to pray for you. Or you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother in heaven to pray for you.

The Hail Mary prayer simply recites Bible passages (the Word of God) and asks Mary to pray for us:

Hail Mary Full of grace, the Lord is with you. (These are the words the angel Gabriel said to Mary, a Bible quote.)

Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. (This is Mary's cousin Elizabeth's greeting, another bible quote.)

Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. (The request to pray for us.)

With love in Christ.

Many people ask their friend and family to pray God for a special intention they have.

Catholics ONLY pray to God. But, often they ask Mary or another saint to pray God for them.

If it is possible to ask a friend to pray God for you, why wouldn't it be possible to ask someone who is already with God to pray for you?

Catholics very often ask for the Virgin Mary's prayer due her priviledge relationship with Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit. She's the human being who is closest to God.

Because the prayer has led them to believe that the Virgin Mary is the MOTHER of God. "Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners..." when this declaration has no biblical basis. Mary is the mother of Jesus, not "Mother of God", thus making her Superior to God.

Note that Mary herself declared that she is the Handmaid (servant) of the Lord, NOT some Queen of Heaven or any other superlative title.

Why not go get a rosary and learn to pray the rosary and find out what it does? You just might shock yourself and learn something.

There's no need to ask such a condescending question.

Where did you get such an idea? Surelly you don't believe that God vacations? You should talk to your priest, he can straighten you out on these unusual ideas you have.
