If I were pregnant, I wouldn't eat it. Tuna has been testing high in mercury lately, and that is one thing you don't want to ingest while pregnant.
The current recommendation is small oily fish, like sardines, and other fish that are herbivorous, like tilapia.

Tuna is safe my G/F had it a few times while she was pregnant and now we have an amazing 14 month old daughter (this had nothing to do with the tune though).
Any and all fish need to be prepared right in order to eat it, it needs to be cooked to an internal temp of 165 degrees for 15 sec and held at 145 until consumed.
Canned tuna is already cooked so it is safe as long as you do not let it sit out.

It has nothing to do with bacteria or e. coli or anything like that.
Tuna is what is known as an "apex predator". You've heard about mercury levels in other fish? Well, Tuna eat other fish. Lets look at how this works.
Fish A eats something with high mercury content, maybe a grasshopper.
Fish B likes to feed on many Fish A's per day, so it gets about 5x the dose that Fish A gets.
Fish C preys on Fish B, so each time it eats one, its eating the equivalent poisoning of 5 fish.
By the time it gets up to the tuna, at the top of the food chain, it is ingesting huge amounts of mercury. Or at least, it could be.
Seafood in general is not a good thing for anyone who is pregnany to eat. Im sorry if your wife likes seafood, but for the good of the baby, tell her to wait a handful of months until after the birth.

Experts say tuna is not good for unborn because of high levels of mercury. But when breastfeeding they push it on you to help boost milk supply. I think if it's ate in moderation like a can a week it will be okay but don't let her eat everyday or every hour. If she is not sure still she should ask her baby doctor. They do have pamphlets about mercury in tuna fish. These say exactly how much tuna can be consumed. Good luck with your new addition.

Tuna is not good for pregnant women. I read from a magazine that advised pregnant women should not take more than 150 g of tuna per week.
Other than tuna, shrimps, prawns, lobsters, crabs are also not good for pregnant woman, as the baby will get allergies easily, my mom and a Chinese herbs master told me about this. My sister, my sister-in-law and my cousins all didn't eat these seafood when they were pregnant, my nieces and nephews all have silky soft skin.

Up till some weeks in the past, I had heard that basically 4-8 ozevery week exchange into risk-free. Now (As of in the previous in June) the FDA (or one in all the different meals and wellness workplaces) is asserting that pregnant females shouldn't eat ANY tuna.... Too undesirable, yet another ingredient to characteristic on the record of issues we gained't p.c.. for lunch!

Is it safe to drink alcohol? Probably so. As for tuna, it's MERCURY. If you want to take that chance, it's probably safe but personally, I wouldn't take the chance. It's not that long a time.

Pregnant women really should stay away from fish and seafood as much as possible becuase it contains mercury, ESPECIALLY Albacore Tuna has a lot. If she's gonna eat fish I think that fresh water fish is safer, but check to make sure.
