Come on Catholics. You know you do. What about Mary? Mother of Jesus? You have statues of her and you even put them up on grave sites. You pray to her. Don't tell me you don't cause I was a Catholic once. What about those Saint Christopher medals and statues? Come on Catholics you have to admit you pray to others besides the Lord your God.

Do you have pictures of your loved ones?

Statues and pictures of people we love are not idols.

Statues and paintings of Jesus and the saints are just like pictures of the people we love and respect.

The King James Version of the Bible states in Exodus 20:4: "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth"

Why were the Jews commanded not to make graven images? Graven images were the standard method of pagan worship. They were representations of false gods.

This is a very clear command. However God commanded the Jews in Exodus 25:18, "And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them" and in 1 Kings chapter 7 Solomon made bulls and other images out of precious metals.

It seems obvious that the Jews did not worship the cherubims and Solomon did not worship the bulls he had made. These images did not violate the command of God. Therefore, an image not made for worship is acceptable.

How can a statue of our Lord Jesus Christ dead on the cross be considered an idol to a false god? A crucifix is the message of the Gospel without words held up for all to see, a visual reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus, no different from a painting, a play, or a movie.

Catholics do not worship statues but the almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

With love in Christ.

I know, the catholics worship the pope like he is a god or something or THE God. It's insanity I tell you. He's just some old man. And also they pray to all those saints!!! My goodness why don't you just go make a golden cow right now?!?!?!? And another thing about confessions, everyone who confesses just goes back to sinning the very next day!!! There's no true repentence. There's so much stuff about the catholic church I'm not even going to bother typing it cause' my insomnia has finaly worn off.

The issue is beyond the level you are viewing it. Worshiping other gods is not all about bowing down for images or godifying human beings. It's all about the position you put almighty God in your heart. Most people still go to church because they just had to be there and many people still don't know the difference between religion and salvation.

I am not a catholic and I have nothing against our brethren catholics but I guess we should all search our hearts.

You obviously are very ignorant.
Alright, before you go ACCUSING a religion, you need to actually talk to them and ASK and have your facts straight.
I can't believe this...
We only have on God. Who is God the Father our Creator who loves us all unconditionally, God the Son who became man and taught us compassion, and God the Holy Spirit who is alive in all our hearts and helps tell us what is good in this world.
I have no idea by what you mean for numero 4. And for number 5 like I said God is the only God, and God is not jealous, because He is perfect and there are no other gods to be jealous of.
I think you need to work on yourself rather than make false claims about different religions or beliefs you do not understand.

See River on the other had, has her facts straight, thanks River, you are very respectful and it's good to know there are people like her.

Very sorry. attempting to undergo in options a seven-twelve months-previous's Catechism recitation from fifty years in the past. Now I do look to undergo in options, 'Thou shalt no longer make unto thee any graven photo', though i did not understand what "graven" meant on the time. you'll locate the genuine Ten Commandments in any Bible in Exodus, the twentieth bankruptcy. The Library has quite a few in case you do not have one. you could verify no matter if that's executed by asking any Catholic to call the ten commandments. those who've been schooled contained in the Church ought to do it for you, yet look them up in a Bible in Exodus 20 (huge 20) so that you've them properly in options, pretty the 2d and the ninth and 10th. proper regards, Michael

Oh, boy...I am not Catholic, but have knowledge of the Catholic Faith...and it is entirely misunderstood. They do not worship "idols". They believe and follow the Word of Christ (and therefore are of the Christian faith) and they believe in one God. So I think it is because everyone believes this to be true; by the word of another...who doesn't know what they are talking about. The Catholic faith can literally be traced back to the times of Christ...perhaps other Christian faiths feel threatened by this...as their faiths didn't evolve until much later. It's just mean-spirited propaganda.

actually, these statues you see in churches and around our houses are not "idols" per ce. the idols that God meant would be creating other gods (like the golden calf thing). The statues we keep are mere representations of people who help to remind us on how to follow the commandments of God. They're not meant to be worshiped or treated like gods.
Think of it as a picture of your girlfriend/ boyfriend/ special someone. Just because you keep one in your wallet, kiss it on occasion or stare at it for hours each day, doesn't mean you're in love with the picture...It just serves as a reminder of who you love...

Please, in the ancient manuscripts there are no verse numbers. There are no paragraphs. There are no Arabic numbers. The Catholic edit of those scriptures is just as valid as the Protestant result. Some of the paragraphs got split differently.

There was an interesting Yahoo news article about this feature of differences as it pertains to the controversy surrounding Texas displaying a granit monument on the capital grounds. Sorry I can't locate it for you.

What is the point here. We do not worship any other God apart from The Lord my God. Just because we have signs in the church, which you do not understand, do not start judging what you do not know, coz nobody gave you the right to do it. Not even God himself.
