Happens world wide. The Police Force attracts that sort of person

Some cops abuse and ignore our rights because they were bullies before they became cops. Secondly, do you ever watch cops on TV? If you have, then you would be tempted to put a bullet in the back of the heads of some of those scuz bags that the police have to deal with. I have had to deal with cops a couple of times and they were quite nice. They were even genuinely concerned that I was not hurt. It is easy to lambaste a group of people or person when you have not walked in their shoes. The grass is always greener on the other side.

You are mistaken that only "some" cops abuse citizens. It is the primary duty of Police Force to establish the authority of the state, and this can be achieved only by abusing the masses. No cop ever abuses the ruling class, because this is against his real duty.

Some officers (I have known more than a few) are just not suited to hold a position where they wield authority. Despite the screening process, they manage to slip through. This particular subset of officers does cause a lot of grief for the officers who are genuinely good people. You never hear about the majority of officers who quietly go about a very difficult and increasingly dangerous job as protectors of their communities without crossing the line. My colleagues and I have stood toe to toe with belligerent drunks who have injured our fellow officers and then spit in our faces and had the restraint to not cave their heads in. We didn't respond that way because we swore an oath to uphold and enforce the law. There are a few bad apples that get the majority of the attention. The next time you hear of a police officer whose name you have never heard who has lost their life in the line of duty, and you see the funeral procession on the news, remember that there are some of us who don't abuse our authority and still pay a steep price for your safety and security. All for a salary that is a fraction of the league minimum of any professional athlete.

Thank you tackleberry88!! I work with police officers every day and have even had my fair share of tickets (LOL!). I have never been abused, harassed, bullied or otherwise seen that type of of behavior. Does it exist -- of course! People are people in all walks of life. But stop singling out the police!! I've seen these same guys and gals deal with screaming, ranting, spitting juveniles and adults doing and saying things that would make any of YOU want to abuse them in a heartbeat -- and they just smiled and did their duty. For which I thank them.

POLICE OFFICERS ARE HUMAN JUST LIKE YOU!
WE HAVE GOOD DAYS AND BAD DAYS, JUST LIKE YOU! SOMETIMES AFTER 10-15 TOUGH CALLS WE HAVE A HARD TIME TREATING EVERYONE LIKE ROYALTY, YOU HAVE A JOB I'M SURE YOU GET MY POINT.
REMEMBER THE LAST TIME SOMEONE GOT SCREWED AT WORK AND SOMEHOW IT WAS YOUR FAULT THAT THEY MADE A JACKASS MISTAKE!
USUALLY PEOPLE FEEL VIOLATED IF THINGS DON'T GO THEIR WAY AND VINDICATED IF THEY DO GET IT THEIR WAY. WHEN THEY GET CAUGHT DOING SOMETHING WRONG IT IS SOMEHOW THE COPS FAULT, GO FIGURE!

SHOULD YOUR RIGHTS ACTUALLY BE ABUSED / VIOLATED BY ALL MEANS FOLLOW UP WITH THE AGENCY.

WE "ALL" HAVE RIGHTS, EVEN THE POLICE! SO BE SURE YOU HAVE A REAL ISSUE TO DISCUSS BECAUSE YOU WILL FACE A CIVIL SUIT BY THE OFFICERS INVOLVED IF YOUR STATEMENTS ARE FALSE.

Because many cops are people who entered that profession for the SOLE PURPOSE of attaining and wielding power! These are people who are insecure, shallow, etc. Ya know, the guy who is bitter about not making the football team in high school, or the guy who got beat up as kid and had his lunch money stolen, they guy who never got the girl, etc. Of course, not all cops are like this. Many are good people who truly wish to serve and protect. But I'd reckon as least half of them are just limp-dicked a$$holes who make themselves feel better by pushing others around.

More abuse over the common rights of citizens in the name of military discpline and when complained, the military court closes its eyes and declares it happend in the civilian area! So the military fellows are not civilians earlier and born with olive green skin.

'cuase they think they are right n every other person is wrong. only they have the right n no body else is having any right. in 3rd world countries the police n corruption are face of same coin. they are brutal, unjust, illitrate n always demand undue favours or money from hapless. generally they come from rotten back-ground n in the garb of police they are dacoits, part of mafia who they serve. they feel good to beat and kill people in fake encounters.... n yes they are punished by GOD. i believe that we as civilised people can better do without these thugs called police

makes me sick to see all the negative responses from people. what if all law enforcement took the same day off. then maybe just maybe you would see and appreciate all the the nasty, threatening, abusing, heartache things we indore everyday of our lives that no one else would. just b/c one person had a bad experience with one doesn't mean all the rest are like that. or maybe you deserved it.
