dude most of the earth is super hot liquid metal that can melt pretty much anything

just the first in the long list of engineering impossibilities associated with your idea.

"A" for effort though.

it's funny to note though that apparently nobody realizes that you would FALL through the tunnel. (so why would you drive it and/or run out of gas while doing so?) No gravity in the exact center. And you could arrive at the other side without any effort. Sweet.

A tunnel from the United States to England has been proposed and estimated to cost 1.5 trillion. I can't remember how long it would take, but I am pretty sure it was in the neighborhood of 12-15 years. I think it is safe to assume a tunnel from the United States to Australia would at least triple those numbers.

With modern techniques of doing things, such a tunnel would almost certainly consist of a large pipe, laid across the ocean bed.Similar tunnels already exist in much shorter form as solutions to crossing rivers and so on.
It is unlikely for such a tunnel to ever be built, simply because nobody will be able to afford the toll.Nobody even likes paying to drive through the cross city tunnel in Sydney. The toll is a ripoff and the tunnel company is considered to be a bunch of American carpetbagging highway robbers by most of our ratrunners trying to detour around anyone who wants their money.

You would be better off building a bridge. Imagine getting half way thru the tunnel then running out of gas. At least with a bridge, if someone runs out of gas, you can push their car into the ocean and move onward.

Thanks for the two points.

Possible, yes. Practical, no. Consider how long it would take to travel through such a tunnel, noting that the speed would have to be kept low enough so that air compression would not take ruinous amounts of energy.

Good idea Chase.
Lets start with the Australia - Asia today.
If that works we can start Australia-America tomorrow.

it might be possible...i mean everything is possible right?
but...did you ever consider how long it would take to DRIVE THROUGH THAT TUNNEL?????

While people thought the Suez and Panama canals were impossible and were proved wrong, I suspect that this one is impossible.

its not possible cause the ocean is too deep if its able to float also not possible cause its too far and super high risk.
