Stop worrying about it. If you make a big deal of it, it will be harder for her to give it up eventually. She is only 3 years old for goodness sake. She feels a little comforted by doing it. Don't take that away from her, she's just a baby.
It may be something to do with separation anxiety.
If you have any doubts about the day care centre, check them out. Maybe you could talk to other parents of children there and see if they have found anything amiss. But I think she's probably just missing her mama when she's at day care!

Soak her fingers in Tabasco Sauce. Otherwise, just ask her why she does it. Give her a sugar free lolipop and call it a day. I like to sit on my hands all day long, doesn't mean that I'm nervous or have any type of complex. I just don't like having them hanging around. Besides, her body is growing and there probably is some type of pressure in her mouth as it grows too. Does she have all her teeth yet? There should be about 20. Maybe a little counter pressure from her makes it feel better.

She probably has some really painful back teeth coming in or that have come in and it just became a habit. There is a seasoning in your local grocer call ULM put some on her fingers she won't do that again! I would make sure it is not her teeth first though. If daycare seems "off" to you then maybe go with your instict and I'd probably say she has learned to comfort herself by doing this when she isn't getting the attention she needs or that she is used to

Well at that age kids are putting everything in there mouth. It may be comforting to her. Preventing it you just have to keep telling her not to do it. I have a friend who is 20 yrs old and still sucks her thumb.

There probably isn't a reason that she does that sometimes thats what kids do, don't worry about it there really is no way to tell why kids do things. And at least she's not walking around with a pacifer.

a nervous habit seriouslly. You just correct her when she does it and pop her lil hand and tell her that its nasty to put hands in mouth and tell her all gross stuff she touches has germs. My son stopped after one week of having to tell him everytime he did it and he started it at school too.
