I was not raised Christian. During my earlier years as a child. I
was schooled in a Roman Catholics setting and school.
I was sick by all those " Flesh being eaten and drinking of Blood"
I hate that Christianity.
And who that guy who was hanged on the cross. Nothing concern me there.
In my youth, I saw some christian. They have flunk their exam, and yet there was peace within them. If that were me, I would raise hell and question the lecturer for the lost points.
I ask, why are you guys so happy about. Failing exam is something not a joy to most.
There was something about that feeling of joy and carefree.
I ask: Is that what Christianity is about?
Being raised Pagan and dabble in ocult pratices, this is new to me. I was not happy being pagan. Looking back at my pagan parents. They are one kill joy people.
My aunt and uncle was christian. They were a joy to be with.
What is this christianity.
On 20th Dec 1999, lying in a park, tears in my eyes. I point to Planet Jupiter and made this sentence.
" I want to be Happy, I want to have the Joy those Christian have. I want to be Christian."
On 22nd Dec 1999. I accepted Jesus as my giver of Joys.
Since then, from being Pagan believer to Free Thinker, to UFOlogists ( God is alien from Outer space), to New Age belief to Christian.
I dare say, I am happy with where I am.
Though I have issue to deal with, about my sexuality and certain bad habit. I pray to overcome those.
This is my life story.

You know one of the better questions ask on here however not the best. Point blankly No one will be saved if they follow blind people. This is a hard thing to state but it is true, And if you look at so called Christians, and then go and look at the bible. Exactly how many people actually follow what is written in there. and I mean written by Christ, because that is what makes a Christan christian isn't it Christ-like. Well how many bible verses have i quoted well none so far i just told you to look them up and see if they follow them. You will find true Christians far and few between. Even though this country professes to have what now 40 million Christians. Well i say we are lucky to have 40. Blind being lead by the blind are the rest. Study you will find i speak the truth.

I am blessed that I was raised in a christian home by my grandparents. I did have the option to decide my own path though. We all decide our own paths. You can be raised as a pagan, christian, budist, etc, It doesnt mean that is what you will be when you grow into an adult. Each person has to accept the Lord on their own. Parents can not do it for them.

Yes...I am not a Bible thumper. I was born into Christianity and didn't become interested in different faiths, creeds, and belief systems until well into my adulthood. After much consideration, I began to recognize some fundamental and essential basic truths that apply to all of us universally. This led me into exploration of Divine Law and Universal Law, which are all inclusive...and does not contain exclusive properties.
I still declare myself as a Christian; for it was through the Word of Christ that I was led to these observations and discoveries. This does not have to be a "given" for everyone; in order to find truth, beauty or enlightenment. I don't comprehend how intolerance for other faiths or beliefs can be synonymous with Christian behavior. This leads to a very narrow perspective, and doesn't allow for other concepts of "God" to be valid. Interesting, huh?

Well I was raised Catholic which is Christian. But I don't blindly follow my faith. I am what you call a practicing one pretty much (not the best but I try) and I try to make it to mass every week, I'm saving myself for marriage, and I believe that Holy Communion is a sacred sacrement. There are some things I don't agree with of course, no religion is perfect, especially Catholism has been one that has to grow and it has, it is traditional, which I like, but it also notices the need for changes. I am Christian because it makes sense to me, because it makes me feel happy, because I truly believe Jesus came to teach us compassion, that he was God, and I believe the Holy Spirit, is a part of God, that resides in all of our hearts and helps us stay true to our feelings and sense of right and wrong. I feel strongest when I am most in faith, it helps me, I believe it is God and those in heaven, and even angels and the ones I love that help me become strong. I love my faith very much, I love how I get the chills when I pray, and I love how my beliefs and what I have yet to learn helps me become more connected with God and all those around me. Thank you for asking :) It's nice to see serious questions like this, where people really want to learn about someone, rather than try and convert them or whatever like you see sometimes in the Religion & Spirituality section..
Well thanks and God bless you. take care

Raised Catholic and quit believing for 20 years. Then i "picked" to believe again as a adult. Now Protestant and would NEVER quote Bible UNLESS asked by fellow Christian. Its AGAINST God to quote Bible to make points with unbelievers.Ditto I'm shocked many non-believers are truly "shocked" reading Bible quotes just sounds phoney.

Me, I'm an atheist. But both my parents - who hadn't really exhibited any religious inclinations before, recently converted to Catholicsm, and they seem to be pretty happy with that choice. However, I know for a fact (in that they've never done so with me) that they tolerate people with other opinions on existance. In fact, many of their other church members treat me with respect and dignity. I don't try to belittle their religion, and they don't try to convert me.
On another note, please don't try to limit the people who respond to your question. This is a free speech zone - if you don't want a dissenting opinion, then don't ask the question. There are rules about how people who respond here govern their answers, but there is nothing to say that a person can't respond to a question because the asker says "don't." Just a friendly mention.

I did. My being Christian has to do with my own logic, you know, common sense. I studied a lot of religions, and all of them are full of something I dare not mention. Christianity, or better stated, my own view of Christianity is simple: Jesus came to this earth to give us a message. A message of love, compassion, forgiveness and strenght. He basically gave us the key to happiness. If you go back and read all kinds of texts from all kinds of religions, they either have wars going on or they like to divide people into casts, or they believe in supreme beings who tell you nothing new...except to go do crazy things in an attempt to get closer to the "light" and what not...you all know who you are. The life of a Christian, as Jesus would've wanted--based on my own little opinion, is that you just had to live your life right. Not harming anyone, having respect, forgiving those who wrong you--because nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. Taking care of your spirit by trying to live in peace. That's what I gather and that's what I follow. There was never anyone as pure and good as Jesus, and there never will be anyone like him, because He is the Son of God, and so I call myself a Christian...I am a follower of his message.

I was born in a Christian family. But i think people misunderstand that for us "never having an option to decide our own path".
You can't force someone to believe anything--it's a choice.
I made a choice to believe what my parents wanted to show me--dragging me out of bed every sunday didn't make that choice for me. I did. I'm sure every Christian with a backbone made a choice all by themselves too.

Although I come from a Christian family, I actually had the option of choosing to believe what I wanted. I don't even go to the same church as the rest of my family, and my older brother is an agnostic.
