I have to excercize today, but i just REALLY don't want to. I know that my calorie intake was more than what i excercised today so i know i have an obligation to burn it off, but I JUST REALLY don't feel like it, i don't know why. i gained almost 10 pounds putting my bmi barely healthy at 25. How can i motivate myself to get on track again? what do you do to get motivated? I need ideas!

Ey.. it's okay. I feel that way too sometimes. Think of exercise in the same way as your obligation to go to work or school. You wouldn't just stay home from work because you don't feel like going because you know you'd get fired. If you don't do the exercise you simply won't get to where you want to be. Thing is, when you do your exercise on days when you absolutely don't want to do them, then you'll get the most satisfaction out of them. It's like conquering that inner dog.

For what it's worth, the BMI at 25 is a bit of a bogus number. You may not know that it was actually a semi-political decision by the USDA to settle at 25. It was supposed to be 22, but then they realised that if they set it at 22, almost all americans would be classified as overweight and that would have made the health dept look really bad. This is actually recounted on the USDA's website. So shoot for a <25 BMI. How's that for motivation? ;-)

Think of things you actually enjoy doing - for example, I LOVE to swim, and my apartment has a pool. I try to go in the evening when the 10 million children in our complex aren't there... 45 minutes of light swimming (not laps, just whatever you feel like) burns a pretty good chunk of calories.

The other thing I like to do is work out in front of the TV when my favorite shows are on. I put my exercise bike in front of my tv next to my couch... that way if I watch TV, I can just sit on the bike and before I know it, half an hour passes!

Try to make it fun and it won't seem so bad!

Okay first off you have to start believing in yourself. No one can make the changes happen only you! You gotta make goals for yourself. Small ones at first, don't going making them way out there. Be realistic. I was at 140kg, well on my way to being the next heart attack patient. I now weight in at a cool 100kg even. This took me 8 months to obtain. You have to find some thing that is going to make you want to go and work out. Try different workout programs till you find something that you really like. And always believe in yourself. The impossible is always possible. Never give in. Try this "Pain is weakness leaving the body" or "Sweat more in peace and bleed less in war". GOOD Luck..

You need to get more slepp if you're just too plain tired to exercise. Most Americans, the majority of them, are sleep deprived and don't even know it. Try getting enough sleep and you will have more energy. You'll feel like you can go out and conquer the world.
