You don't care about money? Le Bec Fin, if you can find a table. Often ranked as the best restaurant in America. (Some $200-$500 per person).
On the same street, Walnut Street, there is a restaurant owned by Le Bec Fin, a little more casual, and that has a hip crowd, and still great food, called Brasserie Perrier. For Asian food, and also on Walnut, Susanna Foo is a little austere but outstanding cuisine. The Four Seasons is excellent, if you don't mind eating at a hotel. Morimoto is excellent for Sushi. I like Buddakan too for Asian, although a bit too showy as a restaurant.
Jake's in Manayunk, a neighborhood outside the center of the city, has great steaks and excellent service, and the neighborhood is worth a stroll. Near U of Penn, so also not quite in the center, there is on Sansom Street a restaurant called The White Dog Cafe, eclectic food, just fabulous, also very nice atmosphere and service.
If you do care to hear about a couple of very casual places that have great food really, there is downntown one restaurant called Nodding Head, with microbrews, organic food, which has great burgers. It's very casual: stools, loud music. Monk's, also downtown, has fabulous mussels and fries and the most amazing unending collection of Belgian beer. A long line to get in on busy nights.
Philly is an epicurean's delight.

Hi! There are so many good choices one could never cover them all. In my experience, the best meal I've had in Philadelphia was at Maggiano's Little Italy. I've eaten at more expensive and less expensive establishments, but this was by far the best eating experience.

It is a chain, but it feels very one-of-a-kind with an authentic Italian feel. Given that, the menu is quite extensive and even someone who isn't an Italian food fan will find something good to eat.

It's located on 12th and Filbert Streets, right near the Convention Center and Reading Terminal Market, and easy walking distance to the Theater district as well. In fact, it is 9 blocks from The Academy of Music, where we saw "Wicked" after lunch at Maggiano's. Perfect!

I recently went to Cuba Libre (http://cubalibrerestaurant.com/) in Philly. This is a terrific, upscale cuban restaurant. The decor is that of 1950's Havana. The tours on the website don't do it justice, but when they dim the lights a bit and open the huge doors in the dining room during the summer you feel like you are sitting in Cuba. Grab yourself one (or 4) of their famous Mojitos, and you've got yourself quite the dining experience.

The food truly is delicious as well, and I was very impressed with the service. I would definitely recommend making a reservation, and if you can avoid sitting right by the entrance to the bar I would.

Enjoy : )

I would suggest a little BYOB. One of my favorites is Aden (northern Liberties). I also recommendPumpkin (South STreet), Django (South STreet)...
THese restaurants are great bc they are owned by families or couiples. All of the emphasis is put on the food!

I suggest staying away from any Stephen Starr restaurant. They are trendy, decorated nicely, and filled with beautiful people, but the food sucks.

I recommend getting a bottle of wine at Blue MOuntain Vineyards (around 4th and South and in the Redding Terminal Market). They give free wine tasting.

The Prime Rib is superb, truly excellent. Morimoto's is supposed to be good. I love Morton's. McCormick & Schmick's is fantastic. I like the Capital Grill. Le Bec Fin is supposed to be the best French food ever. Everyone I know that's been to Deux Cheminee says it's excellent. Anything at the Four Seasons should be good.

Chickie and Petes. Awesome. Seafood or anything. Also, a great crowd. Another place is Julios (Suburbs)...They have something called a Ginaotti. Deep fried dough pocket filled with cheese and sauce. Like a pizza inside out and friend. Can't miss.

I have enjoyed the Old City Tavern. The wait staff dresses in Colonial garb and the food is always very good!

Check out the Cheesecake Factory... you'll enjoy their desserts, but you'll savor their tasty chicken or steaks.
