I'm not sure anyone in the American government announced why.

No, America is not for human rights and peace. Americans are sometimes, our government is just that, a government. There is no government in the world that is for peace and human rights. All are selfish.

America, in my opinion, is vetoing because Israel wants America to. Israel wants to finish its damage, whether to Hezbollah or Lebanon I won't comment, then America will stop.

Unfortunately, that's all there really is.

The position is based on the fact that a cease-fire does not solve the causes of the conflict. If the same conditions exist, the same conflict is almost guaranteed to result again. Hezbollah has been launching rockets (numbering into the hundreds) into Israel for years. They came into Israeli territory and attacked Israeli soldiers, kidnapping 2 soldiers and killing more. Even if Israel's response is disproportionate, calling a cease-fire will not solve the problem. Hezbollah will continue to launch rockets into Israel, and conduct raids into Israeli territory, and the conflict will simply begin again (as it already has). Any solution that leads to true peace must result in changing the conditions that resulted in the conflict to begin with. If a terrorist organization launched hundreds of rockets into your country, attacked your soldiers on your territory and kidnapped two of them, what would your country do? What would the solution be?

the US didnt veto a cease fire between Israel and Lebanon. The fighting is with Israel and Hezbollah, Hezbollah is occupying in Lebanon. I dont think any terrorists such as Hezbollah wants peace.

For political reasons, many dating back to the Cold War and before, The U.S. has made an unconditional open ended commitment to support Israel, even if this support is no longer in our strategic interests.
The U.S. sold out on the matter of human rights long ago. Our policies around the world since Wold War II prove that.

Because we are looking for long-term stability. As you can tell the short-term fixed that the UN 'cease-fires' are do nothing to actually solve the problem.

Look at the cycle caused by these 'cease-fires.'

A cease fire is declared.
The Palestinians ignore the cease-fire
Israel retaliates
repeat.

Unless the Palestinians are held accountable for cease fire violations - all you are doing is protecting them from retaliation.

Isn't it obvious that Israel would not have made any move unless having secured the nod from USA ? A veto would be laughable.

Because it would not solve the underlying problem. Hizbollah has been waging war on Israel for years, and this has to be stopped.
