I don't think I'm a bad person. I try to help other people when I can and despite being a cynic, I believe in basic human goodness at the end of the day. I don't disbelieve in God, but I am very ambivalent and doubtful towards this entity's existence.
I believe if God does exist, he is a hypocrite that sits on his throne, judging on high with his condemning morality. All the while, it was him that created this world, him that gave humanity free will that causes this and he that refuses to step in and correct the evil that he is directly responsible for in this world. If God exists, we are nothing but puppets to him. A movie he knows the ending to. If God knows what we're going to do, what we will think and what the future is then our existence is meaningless .
If God wants to send me to a lake of fire and eternal suffering for deciding with the free will he gave me that he doesn't exist, then he is a hypocrite and a coward. It's humanity that should judge God.

When I say I don't believe in God, I don't mean I think he doesn't exist, what I mean is that it is my opinion that he doesn't exist as a being worthy of praise or worship. I do not have confidence in this being, if it infact does exist. I feel that if God exists he has abandoned this world and is a hypocrite and a coward.

I'm guessing that based on most of these 'answers' you people didn't even read the entire question description. I explained in the previous comment what I meant by 'not believing in God' (that being a lack of confidence in the entity and a lack of certainty to said entity's existence). This is more of a 'if God exists, will I goto hell for not having confidence in him/worshipping him, according to your belief system?

Trying to see the whole picture would be pretty arrogant of me lily dear, it would make me appear as if I was out for God's job. Believe me, I'm not.

I'm going to try explaining this one last time for you people going 'how can you not believe and god and believe in hell?'. When I said not believe I didn't mean that I deny the existence of God. I meant I doubt the existence of God, that I lack a CERTAIN belief and therefore 'not believe'. 'Not believe' is not the same thing as 'disbelieve'. I want to know if I'm going to goto hell, IF this God exists, for not having blind faith in the existence of God.

God is the most loving being in exsistence. That is a basic Christian truth. And the Idea of hellfire goes totally oppisite that basic Christian truth. Would a god of love torture you for eternity for just like 70 yrs of sin? And then instead of torture followed by destruction, he actually uses his power to keep you alive forever so that his fun torturing you doesn't have to end. NO! That is not the loving god who gave his SON for us to have a chance to live!
God told the first humans one simple thing: you sin=you die.
simple
They did sin and because of them we are inherentley sinful.
You don't have to fear a burning hell. God returned adam to the dust, or a state of non-exsistence. Don't worry, God is not busy poking Adam with a pitchfork right now.
And think too. The whole idea of hellfire would mean that God and Satan (Supposed ruler of hell) are in league. God says "hey Satan, I got a bad one here, let me send um down there! Oh by the way, how are the kids?" NO! God is not sending people to be
tortured by satan, his ENEMY, and he is not in the business of punishing people forever in hell.
All in all, I'm not saying that you shouldn't put forth some real effort to get to know god, but don't worry about having them bury you in flame retardent clothes!

Just because you don't understand God's ways doesn't mean that God is wrong. You have very limited knowledge about God and the purpose of His creation. God has given humans free will but at the same time he has also laid down the principles to which they must adhere to. It is for those who transgress the limits set by Him that He has created Hell. God has instructed us to be patient and persevere.
He tests us by imposing certain difficulties and losses on us. He wants to see whether we still believe in Him or not, whether we are still grateful to Him or not. It is for those who pass in this test that God has created Heaven. God could have given us everything we wanted, but then where is the test? A teacher can easily pass a student by giving him full marks even when he doesn't deserve it. But how would that benefit the student in the long run. Every teacher wants that the student should work hard and earn the marks in the test. So don't give up hope on God just because you don't understand why He doesn't free the world of all its troubles. All the troubles that are imposed by God are only a test for the hereafter and are meant for the people suffering because of it. Hope that answers your question.

I don't know. I don't believe in Heaven or Hell. So why am I answering? Because I've had friends tell me that even though I don't believe, I'll still go to Heaven because I am such a good person. I find this very sweet.
It would be nice if there's some kind of diety running the show that he/she would "judge" people on the goodness and evil in hearts and not on some egotistical "worship" and silly belief. If God were really God, why would He care? Jealously, arrogance, and pride are sins, are they not? Why would God have sin?

No sweetie. God is merciful. He looks at all of us as children cuz we are, we all have different reasons for what we believe in or don't. All humans are different, and all have good and bad, and all have different opinions or beliefs, no two people are alike. I believe God gave us life to love anyone and others unconditionally and also to learn from it, and experience love and even emotions like sadness or anger. Because being human is a beautiful thing, and learning to love life and love others as you would want to be loved is what it is all about. The truth is none of us really know what happens after death, and I believe only horrible people who don't feel sorry and are evil and apathetic for horrible things theyve done such as anything that really hurts someone else will go to hell. That's that. God loves us, and wanted to see us experience, enjoy, and figure out for ourself, just like many fathers. That's what I believe. In my heart. I don't follow my faith blindly and I always think about it and question because that is the best and smartes thing to do, and in the end it actually helps my faith grow. It is different with everyone, we live in a very diverse world and that's what makes us so special. It's what makes life worth living. If we all agreed we would all be robots with no life or no heart, just mindless zombies with no opinions or true feelings behind our thoughts. Be proud of who you are, always respect those who are different, and ignore the things that bring you down. Because those things (like the concept that nonbelievers go to hell) are worthless and stupid and just waste your time.

Dude, if you don't believe in god, Hell is no longer an issue. There is no god hence there is no hell. Well like you said if god really exist, he must be a hypocrite, sadist and generally sloppy with his work. Why else the world is in the mess its in right now? Mind you that most of the conflict in the world cause by religion. If he is the epitome of goodness and everything nice, why would he ignored his creation and let it face its own future.

GOD is the Alimighty Uncreated Creator who has NOTHING but unconditional love towards all of creation in this Universe. The commonly held notion of GOD being a judgemental, biased being who loves only based on 'condition' is totally false.
Therefore, Hell is already redundant as it doesnt exist. On the 'other side' everyone are loved and cared for by the Creator in the same way..whether he/she is a murdered, a rapist, a thief or anything negative. This Universe is the dream of God and humans, within the limited consciousness of 5 senses are totally incapable of understanding the Divine Macro Plan unless the consciousness evolves beyond 5 senses. All masters who walked the earth understood this. That is why they loved everyone.
A fine illustration is Jesus's prayer for the ones who crucified him.

I don't believe in god hence I do not believe in hell. Just be a good person and do the best you can. Help other when you can and do no harm. Then even if there is a God in the Christan sense how could he not let you into heaven? No really what kind of Good God would throw you to hell for being a good person all your life?

We as humans are not to judge who will or will not go to heaven or hell.Yes we were given free will which means we all have the choice to do the right thing. You have to live by faith and prayer. Everything cant always go right in this world or noone would ever learn from their mistakes. God helps those who help themselves. You still have a chance to ask for God to come into your heart. I would hate for you to wait till judgement day to find out that you could have saved yourself from the fires of hell.

Wow your question confounds me. How can anyone not believe in god and ask such things it really makes no sense. Maybe you are questioning his existence well this does not mean you do not believe just that you question.. and one point you are definitely wrong on is god is not i repeat not hypocritical. Most preachers are hypocritical, Remember that if you think you will note them as vipers. Wolfs dressed in sheep's clothing note there fine words
note there fine clothes, Note how they do not follow what they Preach!!!! Good well maybe you do a few good things but even Christ said when someone called him good there is only One good and that is god!!!! Christ said many will come to deceive many!!! Christ said FEW they be that find it!!!! why do people think they are going to heaven just because they say they believe in Christ. You know what Christ said he said this " they honor me with their lips but their heart is far away from me" So you are no atheist. you just question! Only a fool does not question!!!!

Dont live your life by what people tell you awaits you after you die, because no one knows. They are only sharing what they believe, and there are no facts they base these opinions on.
Continue to use your rational mind and you will find an answer in time that will be compatible with the life you choose to lead. It seems like you are on the right path by questioning what people try to sell you.
