When gas expands or a liquid becomes a gas, it absorbs heat.

This principle is used to suck heat from the air and throw it out somewhere using a radiator.

The airconditioner is basically a heat pump.

Install the Air conditioner in the window or wall hole.
Plug in the top in its plug socket.
Switch it on.

An air conditioner is basically a refrigerator without the insulated box. It uses the evaporation of a refrigerant, like Freon, to provide cooling. The mechanics of the Freon evaporation cycle are the same in a refrigerator as in an air conditioner.
