It is difficult to delte MS WORD from ones's pc simply.
MS WORD is actually the file winword.exe , are you sure winword.exe is deleted ? Or did your son simply deleted the MS WORD Shortcut which appears on Desktop/All Programs menu ?

If Winword.exe is deleted then without MS OFFICE 2000 installation Cd you will not be able to run it. From the internet you can get MS WORD Reader for free , but downloading MS WORD is not possible, u hv to download MS OFFICE Suit completely.

If u can collect the Office installation cd, repair installation option will get ur MS Suite Up and running in no time.

U can download MS OFFICE 2000 through p2p [peer to peer] networks , through torrents , but beware that is illegal.

You're not going to find a "free" download legally, if that's what you're getting at.

If it came installed on your PC, then the "restore" image disc given by your PC manufacturer should contain it. Otherwise, it's an OEM license which means Microsoft doesn't support you directly. Your PC manufacturer does.

The install files might be on the hard drive already. Try to "repair" the office installation. You can search on the Microsoft.com knowledgebase for instructions.

Unless your son went specifically into your C:\ (or system) drive and deleted the program files for microsoft word, then the program is still installed if you had installed it before.
So try to check in your system drive under programs and under microsoft office to see if you still got it.

At your local computer or software store. Or online stores like Newegg, TigerDirect, etc.

Download OpenOffice (free) instead - it is
much better and gives you fewer problems.
