Have they never heard of the Metropolitan Community Churches?

Or the Unitarian Universalist churches?

I DID read your post anewcreation which is what prompted me to ASK this question. I've been involved in church for years. I actually grew up Southern Baptist and then started going to a UCC church in my adulthood after I came out. :)

Only God knows what is truly in the heart of a person. Can a person be a homosexual and a Christian? I don't see why not. If one considers homosexuality to be a sin, it is a sin just as much as making a harsh remark, driving over the speed limit, not observing the Sabbath, etc. It is no different from any other sin. And, if it isn't a sin to be a homosexual, no issue at all!

There is one creator and no religion has the right to think that they are the only true and right ones.

God is love and he loves us all no matter what. If we do terrible things it is our Creator who will deal with this.

We have no right to judge others and even if it says in the Bible that it is wrong to be gay, why then were we created in Gods image?

True Gays and Lesbians, etc., were born that way - have we the right to deny these beautiful people from falling in love, to be needed and what goes on behind closed doors is their business not ours.

I am not Gay, but some of my dearest friends are and if they have found happiness - good on them. Again I say we have no right to judge them.

I believe in God - but I really do not like being associated with any denomination that puts tickets on themselves.

I have not heard of the Metropolitan Community Churches nor the Unitarian Universalist Churches but shall certainly research and find out.

Anyway I am an Aussie - outspoken and a long way from the rest of the world.

I am southern Baptist and I certainly believe they can be christian. I do of course share a different view on gay and lesbians than the majority of people that I share the southern Baptist belief with. I think that as the years progress, they will be given more rights, hopefully anyways, they are people just as we are...

I am not a Christian but I believe that gays and lesbians can be Christians. According to the Christians, everyone is a sinner. I see Christians cussing all the time on here. I see them judging others. I see them condeming others. I find that most gays and lesbians have open minds toward things. If it is a sin to love someone of the same sex then so be it. A lot of the Christians on here are sinning anyways. Who are they to judge? LOL. They can't if they are Christians can they?

All the churches in the world can say you can be gay and a Christian, but it is only God you have to deal with!

Since God does not Change and he declared it sinful, to continue to practice it seems to be against the teaching in The Word!

This was never an issue until the 1960's. Now people just want to believe what they think God wants instead of checking his word and following it!

I don't know why some Christians are that way, but I do know that they are! I have a brother who is gay, and he is a very religious and involved Christian. I also have a daughter-in-law that is gay. She has turned her back on Christianity because of these attitudes. She has become Buddhist.

It really is a shame that so many Christians do not know their religion and they are so spiritually immature that they condemn others who are different from them. They give Christianity a bad name.

This is a very difficult question to answer, the word christian means to be Christ like, and Christ was not of this orientation. Also if God had meant for same sex relations, He would have made Adam and his mate or Eve and her mate, not male and female to be together. I don't want to come across negative, and that's not what I meant by this answer. I'm not the judge of life and it ultimately comes down to God deciding who goes to Heaven and who goes to Hell. I wish all gays and lesbians nothing but happiness.

I am Roman Catholic AND go against my "religion" daily by verbally and openly speaking out for the rights of homosexuals. I do not believe homosexuals have a choice, we are either Gay or Straight. Please don't judge all Christians on what a few without open minds say. God Bless You. You are as much a Christian and child of God as WE all are.

Dude read the bible what does it say? I can specify what books where it openly condemns homosexuality and calls it an "abomination". From alot of these posts I think that people aren't reading the bible and are jumping to conclusions!

I'm not ignorant I am making a stand.

If what you mean by "Christians" are those who follow Christ's teachings as found in the Scriptures, then my view is that these gay and lesbian people are NOT Christians in the Biblical sense. Jesus said, "If you love me, obey my commandments." Are gays and lesbians "Christians" obeying Christ with their bodies as they use their bodies in an immoral way? Whether these people are the nicest folks you ever known are irrelevant. What is relevant is whether these people who claimed to be Christians are obedient to the Scriptures or whether they are wilfully living in sin. If Christ is in you, then the Holy Spirit would be working to convict you of sin. If gays and lesbians say they are not convicted of sin, then I don't believe they have the Holy Spirit in them, and thus they are not Christians. Or they could be carnal Christians, but there is a difference between Christians struggling with sexual sin and those who delight in it.
