For those that are following this in multple news sources from multiple countries:

Bush says we can't secure the border it's impossible, he can't even get enough states to volunteer troops since he won't sign an order. Now he says we must give him what he wants with immigration or immigration X 10,000 with the Pence plan.

Given what he tells us and giving in to him - if he can't protect the border now, how is he supposed to do it later? It's gonna be the same numbers of people getting in...?

That's why enforcement only. He's lying, and I don't trust anything that comes out of him anymore (like the free world does anyway).

Retski - they voted no money for a fence. How are they going to protect our border better with comprehensive reform than with enforcement only??

There is absolutely NO reason the border with Mexico cannot be totally controlled. When O reilly asked Rumsfeld why they didn't put 400,000-450,000 troops on the border instead of a paltry 6000, Rumsfeld damn near choked. I would guess he didn't think the question appropriate. There is NO acceptable reason for not doing so, other than an unwillingness to protect our country from being invaded by Mexico. Corruption is at the root of the problem.... definitely in Mexico, and apparently in the USA.

US politicians ignore the wishes of LEGAL American citizens.... something is rotten/corrupted in Washington, District of Corruption.

I used to like Bush, but with this illegal immigration problem, I have lost all respect for him. He is so two-faced and manipulative, I can't believe he thinks the average American can't see through him!

How can a country as powerful and strong as the USA not be able to secure its own borders? He declared war on terrorism after 9/11. Wouldn't you think one of the biggest defenses against terrorism would be securing the country's borders? Geeze, the USA is able to go into other countries and fix their problems - how is it that we can't secure our borders and deport our illegal immigrants?? That is so preposterous and ridiculous, I just can't believe it!

President Bush has been so bought and paid for by all the big businesses and corporations and by Mexico, that he is no longer a president who is serving the best interests of the average American citizen.

Thank goodness an election is coming very soon and I hope Americans will rally all their relatives, friends and neighbours to get out and vote. And, in the meantime, be telling all their politicians exactly, in no uncertain terms, what they expect from their government regarding all the major issues, of which illegal immigration should be right up there near the top of the list! Then, vote accordingly!!

I find it hard to believe we have the resources to support these freeloaders but we don't have any resaources to
SECURE OUR BORDERS?
Maybe if we took all the welfare these ILLEGALS get and reallocate it towards border security we would have plenty to build the fence and shells to enforce it!

Enforcing the border is important. But if we prosecute the employers that hire illegals and stop giving them welfare, they will have no reason to be here.

He could if he wanted too. We have enough American Troops right here to handle it-and they are paid by the military anyways. It comes down to not just Bush but the whole Government does not want to do it.

No President has ever fully protected the border, why is that surprising to you now?

Make an open season on border jumpers in Texas...

That'll solve the problem.

It may not be able to be secured 100% but we need to do the best that we can! No need to let people just walk or drive over here illegally!
