It did help my daughters, at least for awhile. The oldest seems to have grown out of acne and the youngest is now using a product called Clean & Clear Invisible something because the Proactive dried her skin too much.

girl, i tried proactiv and it "worked" for a month or two and then stopped. i've heard that happened to a lot of people. this is the regimen i'm on right now: www.acne.org . it was started by a guy who had bad skin and just experimented a whole bunch until he found something that worked, and then actually formulated a gel with the active ingredient, benzoyl peroxide (which is proactiv's active ingredient). the unique thing about dan's program is that it's all about treating the skin GENTLY, which is unlike the harsh scrubbing/exfoliation of the proactiv system. he explains it all here: http://www.acne.org/regimen.html

there is a high rate of success on dan's regimen. on the website there are message boards (where i've found many people who tried proactiv but then it stopped working for them), frequently asked questions, product ratings, and even chat.

but if that sounds like a lot of work, i'd recommend just starting out by buying the gel, which is the main component of the system, and use a good mild cleanser (i use Johnson & Johnson "Purpose" liquid cleanser) & a store-bought moisturizer (something oil-free! there are a few recommended ones to try; it's a good idea to experiment, but Neutrogena's Oil-Free Sensitive or SPF 15 are good ones to start out with).

the gel costs $8.50, and (at the beginning, when using smaller amounts) will last you at *least* 3-6 months, i'd say, so compared to proactiv it's much cheaper.

the guy who started acne.org isn't in it for profit... i truly believe this, and i'm a skeptical consumer. so check it out, buy the gel, and if it doesn't work for you, you're only out $8.50 + shipping.

there is also a book dan sells on amazon (it's just a condensed version of the info on the site, but in book form -- and on the site, it's free). the book has a rating of 5 stars, and if you click here you can see what ppl who read the book think of dan's regimen: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0399529489/sr=8-1/qid=1153897240/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-3553339-7103968?ie=UTF8

p.s. this isn't spam, and i don't work for dan's site... i'm just trying to spread the word about the regimen, cuz i'm actually really impressed by it. my skin is clearing up.... and if it continues to work for me, it will have totally changed my life. if you do check out the site and are considering buying the gel, feel free to email me with any questions. :)

good luck!

It should.I have the same problem. I use the Clean and Clear acne advantage cleanser, and dual action moisturizer. You can get them at CVS. They work well. I also have a prescription for these acne pads or cream called Clindamycin Phosphate Topical Solution. It also clears up acne and bacteria from your face. If you want to get Proactive, I heard good things about it. Jessica Simpson was doing a commercial for it.

It didn't work all too well with me. It really depends if the product works with your skin. You really won't know until you try it.
