the AIDS virus is species specific!!! I had a cat with feline AIDS and i was assured by three of the vets i worked with that there can be NO transmission between the cat and humans... but be warned, that it can be passed from cat to cat simply by the infected cat biting or engaging in sex with another cat. As long as you keep them inside and healthy, they can live for many more years. mine lived for 9 years after diagnosis. Good Luck!

Apparently, some people ahead of me have had experience with this, however, just something for every one to think about.

Viruses mutate.

They are currently waiting to see if the bird flu (a virus)(and now transmittable to humans from birds) is going to mutate and become transmittable from human to human.

The aides virus apparently 'mutated' to become transmittable from monkeys to human, then human to human. I don't think the first human to contract aides would have realized it for a long time.

At what point does this happen? We don't really know now do we? So if you love your cat more than your life. Don't worry about it. You might make history and be the first.

Of course they say human aides is only transmittable via blood or sex. I wonder how long it will take before it mutates again. After all a cold is a virus and you can pick it up off a door handle.

I keep wondering when the scientists and the medical profession are going to get real with us and admit the truth.

They 'practice' medicine because it is not concrete. And they don't know everything.

And science is made of either theories or fact. And the theories simply change when the facts become known. And I think sometimes the facts change.

In other words neither science nor medicine are an exact science.

I don't completely trust either one.

No, cat aids is a different virus altogether from human aids. No need to worry but don't get another cat or it will be infected also. When your cat passes away be sure to thoroughly clean the house and wait several months before getting another.

No, its a different AIDS for a different species. The only AIDS humans can catch from other animals is the chimpanzee form.

The feline immunodeficiency virus is cat-specific; it does not effect humans.
