why don't you try proving them wrong and show them they aren't always right?

Most parents have been there done that when they were you age. Plus a lot of them have made some really bad mistakes and do not want you to go threw the same thing such as the humiliation and they do not want to bail you out of jail. Sometimes though it is just because they do not want to deal with you at the moment so they say because I know more then you. Its an easy way to end the discussion. Next parents do not always know everything and some act just like kids but most do it out of care for their children and do not want to see them locked up or something like that. Just remember you may not see the reason right now but in the future you will be like thanks for doing this even though I hated it mom and day it kept me from getting into trouble. Parents are no different then kids just they know how it feels and want to spare you from this.

They may act like it, but they really don't. But, their heart is in the right place when it comes to their children. The children are probably the most important thing to almost all the parents, and they are hoping that their kids can skip through some of the harsh lessons that they had to endure or their acquaintances had to endure. You know, the world can be a great place and a terrible place depending on how you set yourself out, and I guess they just want your world to be the best place possible.
But still, the world that you are living in is little different than theirs, so they don't know everything. If you feel very strongly, maybe you do need to make your own way by making your own mistakes. The thing is, no one can dictate how you need to run your life except you. But, you do need to recognize that being parent can feel like a very helpless thing when there are so many terrible things that he/she wants to keep away from the children.

I am a parent and teenagers who 'THINK' they know everything are very annoying to us parents who 'DO' know everything.
Teenagers today need to close their pieholes and open their ears more often, especially if the parents are giving and respectful. The teen also needs to show respect, not just when things go their way, but also when the parent is doing things that the teenager may not agree with.
If you won't respect, then don't expect to be respected. It's earned, not a right.
As Jesus said at Matthew 7:12, “All things, therefore, that YOU want men to do to YOU, YOU also must likewise do to them; this, in fact, is what the Law and the Prophets mean.
Many people call this 'The Golden Rule'.
Also Luke 6:31 says it this way, 31 “Also, just as YOU want men to do to YOU, do the same way to them."
Get it?

Because "parents" have done whatever their kids are contemplating of doing. Parents were KIDS before they were parents.
Experience, age and "been there done that" usually tells a parent how to relate to their kids.
Believe me! Your Mom or Dad have probally done more sh*t than YOU have. But due to experience and consequence they now know what can happen to kids when kids do stupid sh*t.
In an effort to prevent the same hardships and pain that THEY went through a parent often invokes rules and restrictions on their kids.
It is merely to protect YOU from making the same mistakes they did.
So why do they think they know everything? They don't! It is trial and error to get their kids to not be harmed. it is as painful to be a parent as it is to be a KID................

Well considering they have been around longer than you have considering your the child they should know more than you but they dont know everything! No one knows everything. No ones perfect. Maybe you parents act like they know it all because they are trying to help you not make you get annoyed by them they are just doing what they was taught probably when they was growing up just like when you get older and have a child you will probably act the same way!

Chances are that your parents don't but they know more than you because of experience...either thru friendships or self experience. For the children that think they know it all or feel mom and dad are being to tough...Take a look at the household bills..Then honestly look at how much you think it costs to take care of you! Remember a meal is approx 5.00 at Mcdonalds or a sandwich a soda and chips is approx 6.75 each meal. Your kix and purse 100.00 priceless..Ha ha!! Then look inside yourself and examine how much you think you really know!! Then apologize to your parents because your not as smart as you thought!!

I'm still a pretty young parent... (24) It's not that we think we know it all, just more than our children. You get a false sense of know-it-all-ness around age 13... I did. It will pass in time and you'll realize they were just trying to save you from the horrible things in the world.

Parents are more experienced & they try to share their knowledge and wisdom with their children so that the kids don't have to go through the same hardships that the parents went through.
Well.....good parents anyway.

parents don't know it all but are afraid their kids are going to repeat mistakes that they have made or that their kids will not live up to their expectations. it's frightening to be a parent and know that your kids expect you to have all the answers...my girls are teenagers and they hate my "know it all" attitude, but it sure comes in handy when they are having a crisis...sometimes about friends, boys, school, sports, or whatever. i am always there for them and they can always come to me for advice and comfort. the biggest thing that parents know is that they love their children and only want what is the best for them.

They don't think they know it all..They just have been where you are and know about what you are going thru...It may not seem like it now but your parents are your best freinds...They can help you out with your problems or questions if you would just give them the chance...You won't regret it.
