Lots of benydryll. No just joking. Lots of stuff to entertain him, and get up and walk around the back of the plane as often as you can. Figure you will never see these people again so, so what if they get mad because you little on is crying. If you can deal with it they will just have to get over it or tell them being rude about it wont help and he is only 3 do you remember when you were 3 bet it would be hard on you right. Then just let them sulk if need be.

please don't " tranquilise " him it's too risky to keep track of how his doing. I flew from Mid west U.S. to the West coast of Australia once when my son was 7 months old by myself and then again when he was 4 years old and I was pregnant. Most international planes will have a t.v. on the back of each seat, and most airlines have some sort of children's activity pack with crayons and stuff. Make sure you have his fave snacks and drink and a few of his toys that he likes enough for them to keep his attention for longer than any others. With those hours you could be doing the same flight as me. Good Luck and stay calm...enjoy it :-) yes it's possible.

All of the above are great answers. However, I would omit giving the child a cold medicine if he is not ill.

And ask him what two things he would like to have on the plane to add to the list of items already mentioned.

I pity you. Check with your doctor and see if there is anything safe to tranqulize him for 45 hours - to be on the safe side - delays and such. If there is no such drug then get some for yourself for after you reach your destination.
