Cats, a long time ago, in Egypt, were considered God like and were reviered. Years after that, here in the US, they were considered to be signs of the Devil and were associtated with witches and were given a bad rap. They are, as someone pointed out, thereapeutic. They do sense when you are feeling bad (my cat always comes up to me, if I am really sick). When you pet them, it makes you feel calm. In fact, many studies have found that petting cats (and dogs) are great stress relievers and have reduced heart attacks.

Just like any pet, they can be therapuetic. Sometimes they know when you're feeling upset and will come to you. Or they can also sense weather. We had a tornado here in March I believe and they sensed it and they were very antsy and would not sit still. So they are helpful in many ways. Plus, unlike dogs, you don't have to take them out for walks! lol

cats are the best. nothing better than being woke up with a kitty kiss and hearing them purring. they always seem to know when you need them. like when your sick they'll lay with you and when you're down they come over and love on you and do something silly. i have always had cats, mine right now is laying on the couch with me asleep and she's 12 years old and very spoiled and i wouldn't change a thing about her.

the best thing they do for me, beside bring me laughter and joy, is they keep rodents out of mouse. When we first moved in there tons of mice. NOW, none!! Love my four kitties!! plus they all have different personalities like humans. they are great!

i have two cats of my own ages 3 and 11 weeks. i keep my cats for companionship and to help relieve stress.
they are one of the cleanest pets out there-they bathe themselves, only use the litter box and don't ever tear up my house.
they enlighten my life-bring laughter to me and my 3 little girls. plus it's nice to have them home with me when my girls go to their dad's house when it's his turn to have them-i don't feel so alone. they can tell when i'm upset too-crawling into my lap, purring to try to make me feel better.

my cats are my therapy whenever anything is wrong my cats are there to listen and love me. i have made it through alot of hard times because of my cats. 2 of my cats in particular have followed me everywhere i go especially when i am upset.

i dont know why people keep cats----------- may be as pets or mouse catchers but they look pretty cute as in TOM N JERRY n STUART LITTLE THAT B'FUL/ HANDSOME WHAT EVER U SAY WAS WHITE CAT IN THAT
