As long as you use a good shampoo and conditioner and a prep cream like L'Oreal Hot Style before and after you should be ok. And as long as your iron are good quality... But most of all have your trimmed and eat well and drink lots of water..I've been ironing my hair for 15 years and it's fine...

It is damaging to the hair, I don't care what people want you to believe. Take a look at the tons of questions on this board from people who've been using them and now have straw for hair. Most people can do so much better with a little patience, some hair gel and a blow dryer with a round brush. Irons are a fad and one that's going to be very short lived from the looks of it. When that many people are frying their hair (and many are much older than you and should know better) it has to tell you that this isn't just another great way to do your hair. It's something you should only do for special occasions and only after having a real beautician teach you how to do it properly.

It depends... In general Fat Ironing your hair IS damaging. Several factors need to be considered first.
How long is your hair?? If it is only shoulder length then your flat ironing is not tooooo damaging. But if it is longer, because the longer your hair the harder it is to keep it mousterized and healthy because it dead... it is actually quite bad.
It also depends on whether you blow dry your hair, wash your hair more than 3 times a week, color your hair, bleach your hair, is your hair already 'unhealthy'?
If you blow dry your hair you need to be careful how much you flat iron your hair. Colored hair is already damaged and I would not suggest flat ironing your hair. Washing your hair too much (more than every other day... so EVERY DAY you wash it) is actually bad for your hair because the natural oils that are HEALTHIER for your hair can not 'soak' in... so your hair may become very dry and frizzy.
Anyways... it depends. If you take good care of your hair, it should be okay, but I would not suggest ironing your hair everyday or while it is wet, do not iron your hair while wet!!
Anyways, hope this helped.

YES!!!!!!!
very bad! at ANY age.
So don't make it into a daily habit because it's gonna get seriously burnt, brittle, strawlike, thin, and extremly damaged....
You are sure to get spit ends with all that heat... just dont do it everyday and of course let your hair be natural most of the time, If you straighten it because you have the frizz problem, try "Frizz ease" (very good prduct) or something similar, and always use a heat protector when srtaightening your hair It helps alot and helps straighten it in less time so you don't have to run the straightener over your hair so many times, therefor less damage
Use a good conditioner too to keep your hair healthy and soft
Hope this helped you
use a good conditioner

No more bad than ironing your hair at the age of 23 or 33...and so on...
But seriously, maybe you can cut down on the ironing? If you don't want to do this, try Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo or a similar product. I swim every day, which is horrible for my hair, and this shampoo (which is inexpensive) is great at protecting my hair from the chlorine and counter-acting the effects it has on my hair. And you can use it every day.

Well yes, it can do some bad damage to your hair! What I recomend is to just keep the flat iron on "low" so that way it wont let out so much powerful heat that can cause serious split ends!!

It does get pretty bad for your hair eventually. If you have wavy hair you can try blow drying it when it's still damp/wet with a brush. Make sure you're blowing down to make it straight. Also, you can use some straighening balm that also adds moisture to your hair before you blow dry. This does less damage to your hair than straightening it with a flat iron.

Its bad to flat iron your hair at any age! its the most heat intensive, aka damaging, style tool out there! Use a heat activated conditioner, and blow dry your hair IF you must. Or simply come to terms with your natural hair, and learn to love it for what it really looks like.

They probably told you that because your hair is either very fine or dry and brittle.
Applying heat to your hair could dry it too much and cause your hair to beak off.
That's what it sounds like.
I wonder if you could use a hair straightener, that you can shampoo in and then apply a strong conditioner on your hair.
You might ask them. Maybe they're not as harsh as direct heat.
Good Luck. I hope you can find a solution to your problem.

Well I don't see how it would be any worse for your hair whether you were 13 or 50... and ironing isn't so great for your hair, but as long as you don't go bald, I don't see the problem
