Cats deserve to be tossed into a flea dip with no sedatives. Better yet, of all animals, cats deserve fleas the most. The trick is to pick them up by the scruff of their neck so they go all limp and then drop them in the washer with flea dip in it and close the lid and run it on the heavy duty cycle. Cats are Satan's spawn. They inhabit the planet only to do his bidding. They are the most hedonistic creatures on Earth. At least a dog will play. Cats just lay there and convert food into crap and offer nothing in return except the furballs they yack up. Nothing else.

Make an appointment with a vet to schedual the cat for a flea dip or use a harness on him and tie it near the sink so he won't get away, wear working gloves if you think he may bite and scratch. Shampoo alone in most cases won't be enough if he is flea infested. Buy a flea collar and flea powder to use after his bath when he is dry. I've done this with my cats and they didn't have no fleas so far this year.

I don't think you can get over the counter sedatives. Why not use Frontline or other flea drops? They work great and you only need to put them on the back of the neck. Fleas are dead in 24 hours.

No, there is nothing over the Counter that you can give your cat, however, we used an alternative, you can buy this powder that you put on the carpets and vacum up, it kills fleas and ticks for weeks after you put it down, and also put a flea color on your cat before using the powder, at any rate it killed the fleas off of our cat and dog. You can get it at WalMart

Check out the website: 1800petmeds.com. They have it if it is available. Be extra careful with a stray. Their temprament can be aggressive since they have had to survive 'the wild". Bless you for caring about a stray.

i don't beleive you can by that. Check with your local feed lot..they carry stock shots. Also, i would get a humane trap for it and try it that way. your local animal control can help you...they might even help with the sedation.
