If you have a good hobby it's not a waste of time at all.
It's good for someone who's disabled and can't do much else and it gives that person some self respect to know that they made something themselves.
For those whose abilities aren't limited hobbies are still a great way to accomplish something in their own time and way too.
Hobbies are really a good source of releasing ones own way of handling stress too. To get involved in something that takes your mind off of everyday stress is more then a hobby to those who use it for a stress reliever.

Thats exactly what a hobby is. Its something which interests you that is supposed to waste your time away to keep you from being bored. So yes they waste time, but no they are not meaningless. Everyone should have a hobby and be involved in something to get some time of enjoyment out of life.

It ain't a waste of time... There's some out there if ya spend nickles and dimes for stuff now, they may be worth some money on down the road. Like for me... I collect collector cards. I may pay a couple bucks for one card and the same card 5 years from now may be worth double the amount then what I paid for it. And people do hobbies for fun and they enjoy what they do... I know I enjoy collecting collector cards...

well...not always...i mean hobbies can be quite productive as well.....you cant say reading a book is a waste of time....
but then everything has its own time....so hobbies can be a waste of time if pursued at the wrong time...at the time of your work...
