If anything Mentholated tobacco is even WORSE for you because of the extra nasty chemicals that have to be added to it for that minty taste, and to make it burn evenly.

I'm 21 and I smoke menthols, but no matter what cigarette you smoke, nothing is really age defined, and in the long run, they are all bad for you. Menthols generally have fiberglass in the filters--that's what gives you the menthol feeling--and it can crystalize your lungs. They are definitely no better than any other cigarette out there. I try to smoke camels because they are supposed to only have cotton filters, but I've never done the research to check on that...

Aren't menthol cigarettes worse than the other types?
We all need to spend more time watching educational shows and visiting the library.
We are always looking for some kind of cheap diversion like smoking.
Obviously, smoking is bad for any age.

Boy, is she pulling the wool over your eyes, or her friends over her's. No cig is good for you at any age and it seems that it would be easier to walk away from at a young age than after you've been going at it for some time.
Menthol cigs do have less killing factor, but don't look the other way because they just are sneaking up with the hammer instead of running the locomotive.
Cig smoking is harmful to the person smoking and everyone who is around them. It is a great way to take every one you love to the grave with them. But, they should be careful the loved one may get their first and then they would just have to wither in agony by themselves!

Here's some proof about menthol cigarettes damage. It seems they point directly to blacks and I don't know if you are black or not, but I know that if something is bad for a black, it is not better for a white! I think your daughter is trying to manipulate you and persuade you she's doing a good thing for her body by smoking these. After you read these, you'll have all the ammo you need to know what she's doing! If I were you, after I read them, I'd print them out and give them to her to read. And you and she could discuss them together. These are but a few on the web, you can find more on google.com.

The 3rd paragraph from the bottom of this one makes a statement which is good in her favor, but also bad in another way. Anyway you look at it, nicotine of any kind cannot be good for anyone.

This site has 3 links for you to show her the ingredients of all cigarettes. It would be good to print out and discuss those "not nice' ingredients and how she needs her lungs to carry her to age 90 or so!

Cigarettes are cigarettes. Only thing different with menthol is that it tastes like smoking a tube of toothpaste as opposed to licking an ashtray.

I believe that if you were to take a package of (lets just say Marlboro since they come in both menthol and non) each and read the side panel, the surgeon general doesn't back up the line of BS your daughter just ran on you. Neither one can be classified as "good for her" at ANY age.

I think what I've read before is that menthol cigarettes are just as bad as regular cigarettes. Wish I could list a refrence, but they shouldn't be too hard to find.

Menthol cigarette is not an alibi for her to smoke. I quit smoking 5 years ago. And I regret starting it years ago. Keep her tar-free I suggest.
