A country club is a private club whose focus is golf and social activities. Often they have facilities for some other sports too, like tennis or swimming. There is usually a bar and restaurant.
Membership is generally costly, because members are the only source of money to keep up the course, the facilities, and to pay the staff. Usually there is an initiation fee, ranging from hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars. Then there is an annual maintenance fee and/or a minimum monthly spending requirement.
Rules vary, but often prospective new members must be sponsored by existing members before being accepted into the club.
For all this money, you generally get a well maintained golf course and lots of service from a friendly staff. There is usually a "social director" that organizes tournaments and social events. It is meant to be a real "club".
On the downside, you are stuck playing the same course almost all the time, with the same bunch of members.
Many people use a club primarily to develop business connections.
Take your pick!

A country club is a club where members can meet, participate in activities or just gather for meal together and discuss matters of interest or business. Most Country clubs have a membership fee to be paid monthly or annually, as well as a one time entry fee, both of which can be rather expensive depending on the club.
However in most if not all cases just paying the fee will not get you in the door, you must have a current member in good standing sponsor you, and then ins some cases it is subject to approval or denial by the membership board which is comprised of other members.

Money talks. Country Clubs are for those that can afford it.
Country clubs are communities where people can perhaps play tennis or golf, swimming and other activities. They are usually for people who live in a certain neighborhood or are wealthy enough to join one.

I believe it's a place where you can have a wedding reception and feel like your really important. Actually it's a building in a cow pasture that's used in the summer only when the cows sleep outside.
