Know this: you are not the first to ask this, and won' t be the last. It has baffled people smarter than you & me for ages. Some things a person can accept and still ask questions. The more you think about it, the worse it gets. The only way to eat an elephant?

One bite at a time.

It's nice to know Johnny Zondo (above) has the advantage a luxury of knowing exactly WHEN and WHERE he's going to die! That's amazing! If that's the case, he's right - he doesn't need a god or heaven. BUt let's take the CRAZY idea that you don't have this knowledge upfront.... then what? After-life insurance, of course.

Religion is a black hole. It's like the silver tung of the devil. It drives so many insane. Leaves you think that anyone that does not believe is crazy. Being crazy is a single minded idea that you believe in with no proof. No one can tell you or say any different. It is like the slow grip of the python. Squeezing the very life out of your soul. Just think about it like this, if there is no after life, then what will you care, you will cease to exist. True peace can only be found in death, the end of the struggle of life. Happiness is what you make for your self. Peace is never happiness.

I share your thoughts.

I have a friend who is a "Jehovah's Witness" and he comes and talks every now and then.
I am always asking him questions , so he gave me a book called "What Does The Bible Really Teach".
I have also told him that I am not a believer in a "Higher Spirit" known to many as "God".
Anyway , with an open mind , I started reading this book , but i only got halfway through it because of so many contradictions.
The main issue I couldn't wrap my head around was :
In the start of the book , it says that god is love , and loves ALL his creations. He loves ALL HIS CREATIONS is emphasized quite a lot. Further on in this book it then goes on about Armageddon , Resurrection and Judgment Day.
It says in the book , Jesus will have a say in the judgment day , but it is gods final decision , and it says in the book that god (quote) "Although Jesus will have a role in judging the living and the dead , Jehovah is the final Judge.(Acts10:42) He will never resurrect those whom he judges to be wicked and unwilling to change"
So , everyone doesn't get resurected........what happened to loving ALL HIS CREATIONS????
OK , so you get the choice , believe in god and live , or don't and stay dead........Next issue..........
The book also says that the greatest gift god gave to humans was FREE WILL , If and when Armageddon arrives , then Judgment Day , you get the choice , believe in god or not.
This is NOT free will , FREE WILL is no longer exsistant in this matter , to me , this is not the loving god people praise , this is vengance. In laymans terms , the bible is saying that god is saying "Believe in me or I shall Smite thee"

I am a non-believer , but am always ready to listen to peoples views on relgion to try to understand why there are so many relgions and beliefs in this world.
I am also NOT saying that there isn't a "GOD" , for me , seeing is believing , and i haven't seen anything to proove to me the exsistance of a "God"

Well, I'm a Christian, so of course I'm biased...but I think most religions contradict themselves; the Bible, however, does not. I know it seems like it does...but the Bible is a complicated text that requires much contemplation and discernment in order to understand...and even the most ardent Christian struggles with understanding...it's an on-going process.

Also, a lot of the behavior in a Christian believer's life can be a contradiction. I have been guilty of it...everyone has...that's why we just don't 'become saved' and have that be the end of it...it's a daily 'cleansing' process to stay true to the word and treat others the way God commands us to (with love and respect).

If you have a specific question about the Bible or Christianity, please feel free to contact me (visit my profile).

There are contradictions, because human beings try to change things to fit their inaccurate beliefs. There is only one God and one truth and He sent His Son to reveal it. I can see that you are seeking it. If you will really open your heart, ask Jesus to come in and show you the way, He will. You don't need to go anywhere, just your own room-but really open your heart and be prepared for a new life. Don't get hung up on things like eternal life-you are putting the cart before the horse. You need to know God in a personal way and then the answers will come.

there ARE many contradictions in religions.

do what im doing. you try to make your little bit of space here on earth into heaven. be it your house or your apartment or whatever. you fill it up with your favorite things and you live life the best way you can. then, when youre old and on your deathbed and youre looking out at your entire family, children....maybe even grandchuildren...and you know that every single one of them will be okay and well taken care of, youll realise that you dont need a heaven. and you really dont need a god....and the idea of eternal sleep wil lactually be a good sounding idea.

Napoleon Bonaparte's famous quotes about Jesus Christ:

“His religion is a revelation from an intelligence which is certainly not that of a man.”

“I know men; and I tell you Jesus Christ is not a man. Superficial minds see a resemblance between Christ and the founders of empires, and the gods of other religions. That resemblance does not exist.”

“There is between Christianity and whatever other religion the distance of infinity.”

Ernest Renan, French historian and religious scholar:

“Jesus was the greatest religious genius that ever lived. His beauty is eternal, and his reign shall never end. Jesus is in every way unique, and nothing can be compared to him.”

Welcome to normality..... the Bible says "Eye has not seen, and hear has not heard, nor has it even entered into the heart of man ALL that God has prepared for those that love Him."...... even if you tried, as long as you're living here in this Earthly plane, you'll never fully comprehend God or eternity.... but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Listen dude..... God put 3 times more (that heaven) info in the Bible about a very real place called hell because He loves you so much and doesn't want you to end up there. Jesus came and died in your place and mine, taking your punishment and mine....dying in your place and mine......but most importantly..... He rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven...... why?.......to prepare a place........YOUR place, and MINE......and that my friend is worth a Praise God! Thank you Jesus for loving us when we didn't love you...... I pray you help my friend here come to a saving knowledge of you.... for the Bible truly and accurately states your own words when you said "For I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life.....and no one comes unto the Father, except through Me." Friend, put your trust in Jesus Christ today, and eternity will never be dull....you can count on that.

Stop trying to believe in something. Nature loves you. The real world is all around you. there is no burning in hellfire. this natural world already is eternal.
for all eternity you didnt exist, you were without conscience. Then in one baby on this planet, you became conscious. when you die, you become non existent again. who's to say the same events that brought you here in the first place, cant do it again.
Its all nature
God = 'nature'
Dint worry about things, worrying adds nothing to the thing itself.
animals don't care.
You cant believe, because somewhere inside you knows 'its' B.S. You need to admit that, so you are free to seek out truth.
