If done the correct way. Staying flexible is good all around for reducing injury. Dont lift objects improperly as well, your vertebrae are malaligned and improper lifting can throw out your alignment real easily. If there is someone stronger near by to carry something for you, ask them to do that.
Find someone to give regular messages, this helps loosen up the muscles as they get tight and keeps them from pulling everything out in the wrong direction.
