You mean you can't buy alcohol until after a said time of day? That's odd. But then again..I can't buy it on Sundays. LOL Yes I agree they should change the laws. That's retarded. What is it any business of theirs when we decided to get drunk and when we are sober. I thought that is what being an adult was about ..making your own decisions. Be them good or bad as long as they aren't affecting others in a negative way.

And if the "local yobs" are drunk at 7 am when you go to get your paper..ignore them. They aren't your concern.

Now it's possible to buy alcohol all night from shops that have 24 hour alcohol licences. There are many large supermarkets like Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's that sell alcohol around the clock. Not only can you buy 24 hour booze from the big supermarkets but also small independent convenience stores and petrol filling stations in some areas sell alcohol all night. http://www.24houralcohol.co.uk lists shops that are licensed to sell alcohol 24 hours in various parts of England & Wales (there's still no 24 hour drinking in Scotland). Take a look at that 24 Hour Alcohol website to see if your local offie has a 24 hour alcohol licence, you never know there might be one just down the road from your house. A lot of places that are allowed to sell alcohol 24/7 don't open all night and some places that are open 24/7 don't actually sell alcohol 24 hours so you have to dig deep to find where exactly you can buy alcohol 24 hours in your locality. It looks like Tesco have the most premises with 24 hour alcohol licences so your local Tesco Extra is probably a good start or your nearby branch of Asda. A lot of Sainsbury's supermarkets have 24 hour licences but I understand Sainsbury's now only have a handful of stores across the country that are open 24 hours (a few years ago they decided to start closing most of their stores at night and abandoned 24 hour opening for whatever reason).

I think not.

I know what you mean about getting the shopping done in the morning when it is quiet in the supermarket. You might want to buy something but not actually drink it until the evening or weekend.

Even so I think there is pretty clear evidence which basically shows that the more difficult it is to get hold of alcohol (through high prices or just simply through restricting availability) then the less alcohol abuse there is.

Shops can apply for a 24 hour license, but yours hasnt.

Also, allowing drink to be sold 24 hours in some locations can cause unruly behaviour.

You would be quick to moan that the local yobs are drunk at 7am when you buy your morning paper!

It should. This is one of these silly unnecessary laws, annoying if you just want to take a can of beer home with you after closing time. A friendly shop might turn a blind eye to you shoplifting it if you pay the shopkeeper compensation. It's worked for me.

Come on, be realistic! Why would someone buy alcohol if they're not going to drink it!It's like candy when as soon as you come out of the store you just want to devour it whole...not all people have self control
