A lot of people take the Bible as literal, and Gosple truth, but, the Bible has been rewritten, by man, who is a vein, and petty creature, prone to lying, misinformation, and changing things to fit their own needs and asperations. Then why do so many people take the Bible as literal truth? It was written, and rewritten by man over and over, until the original words have been lost in obscurity over the passages of time. Here is a good exercise to try. Take twelve people, give all twelve the same Bible verse. Have each sit seperately, without discussion, in the same room, and write the verse in there own words, and then, at the bottom, have each describe what the verse means to them, its meaning. Now, take everybody' papers, and compare each, against the original, and see how many different meanings come from the twelve people, and you will see what I'm talking about. The Bible is of man. Man lies, and misinterprits, acording to their upbringing, and personal experiences.

A few uniformed people should take the time to learn that the New Testament of the Bible was translated into three versions before the Catholic Church decided to choose a version which best suited their purposes. (See Erasmus)

As for meaning being lost in translation, the original translation of the Ten Commandments said, “Thou shall not kill”, but the church changed the wording to “murder’ to justify crusades which killed tens of thousands of innocent people. Each religion interprets the Bible the way they believe the Bible should be interpreted thus there are Mormons, Catholics, Presbyterians, Baptist, Pentecostal, Lutheran, Episcopalian, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Nazarenes, and the list goes on. Each of these religions is convinced theirs is the only way to Heaven and all the others are going to Hell.

The Bible is a book of parables. For example the story of Adam and Eve is not a story of creation, but of paradise, rules, temptations, and being punished for breaking the rules. God gave man the ability to learn and science has proven Adam and Eve are not the beginning of mankind.

Self righteous Christians also pick and choose which parts of the Bible they choose to believe. For example Christians use the verses in Leviticus to condemn homosexuality, but ignore the sins of eating shell fish, shaving, wearing woven clothing such as cotton, women preaching the gospel, and selling food for profit which are written right alongside the sin of homosexuality. Modern day translations actually use the word homosexual to describe male prostitutes and rapists; blind faith is a synonym for ignorance. Christians should take the time to learn what is true long before they take the Bible literally.

Jesus was to be the great clarifier of all these misinterpretations, but Christians, although claiming to have been cleansed in the blood of Christ, ignore everything Jesus taught. Christians completely ignore Jesus’ message of love, tolerance, and compassion. Jesus himself created contradictions which Christians deny exists in the Bible; Moses said, “Hate thy enemy,” but Jesus said, “Love thy enemy.” Does mankind serve justice an “eye for an eye” or do we “turn the other cheek”?

The Bible was written by men and, although some here haven’t studied theology enough to realize this fact, the Bible was translated from the Vulgates using block lettering by the Catholic Church. Many of the words were missing or there were no Latin translations for many of the words so the leaders of the Catholic Church improvised to meet their own agenda. Modern day Christians continue twisting the words of the Bible to justify judging, persecuting, imposing their will onto others, and condemning in the name of God, which are all great sins according to the Bible.

God loves each of us equally; as soon as all religions realize they are not the chosen people and all of mankind is God’s child, our world will begin to heal. As long as hate, racism, and pride separate us, our wounds grow larger, more painful and are more difficult to mend, but as Jesus taught us, as long as there is life, there will be hope for our world.

So where do you get your information that the Bible has been rewritten over and over again?

The answer is, you are either guessing, or parroting something that somebody else said, also without a shred of proof.

The fact of the matter is, there is more documentary evidence for the accuracy of the Bible than any other written work in the history of Man. Copy after copy after copy, regardless of when dated from, are all identical.

Your "experiment" with the 12 people is not anywhere close to how the Bible was copied generation after generation, so appealing to that argument as proof of what you are saying is sophomoric.

You should get as many different translations of the Bible as you can...King James Version, New King James...any of them, and compare any verse. Now, each verse might be worded differently, but they all say the same thing. No where will you find ANY contradictions. Try it...then see if I'm right. Yes, the Bible was written down by man, but their words were inspired by God. God is a perfect being. He has a plan for us and the Bible is His way of telling us that plan. For you to say that the Bible is wrong is to say that God is wrong, making Him imperfect. Do you think God is imperfect? Do you think He is a God of contradiction? Do you think He wants us to be confused about what He wants for us? If you believe these things, then you are the one with the problem, not God.

I'm pretty sure I understand what you are saying. Is proven fact that the bible has been changed. Pick up the NIV and are many complete differences to the KJV or the NKJV. Also the Catholic bible has more books than any other in it....Go figure. I'm a strong believer in God and a strong disbeliever of humanity. When it comes to religion Christianity isn't the oldest...has been changed....and there are so many different views between believers there really isn't a need to say that the bible is %100 correct nor that it is wrong because no one is ever going to agree on anything totally. But what I say is just what I say...same as the next who tries to say what they say and want to be correct. I'm not concerned so much with correct but just express my view take it or leave it.

The Bible is indeed to be taken literally. If you don't take it literally, then the Bible ends up meaning anything you want it to mean.

That doesn't, however, mean that the Bible doesn't use a variety of ways of communicating. There are clearly pictures, metaphors, similes, parables, and the case of Matthew 5:28-30, hyperbole. They are all valid communication devices and Jesus employs many of them in his teachings.

This means that you take the Bible literally, but understand those times when some other type of communication is clearly being employed. If Jesus had really meant that you were supposed to pluck out your eye, then you would have seen many examples of people doing this in the Bible.

I hope this helps some.

God bless you!

depends what bible you're talking about..... The King James version, for example, was translated from original manuscripts. But many other versions of the bible, like the New International Version, for example was transcribed thus:
The transcriber would transcribe the passages from old documents onto new ones. Then thrwo the old ones away. Then when the newer ones got worn out, they would transcribe it onto a new document, and thrwo the old one away. This process was repeated thru the centeries, so yes, there is lots of room for human error there. And that is why most Christians trust the King James version over others.

You got something better that can change my life the way the Word of God has.

Does any other book on earth give life, comfort the suffering, Heal the sick, set captives free, give the answers we need in this cruel world?

The reason there are so many distortions of what the Bible means is because so many foolishly tell Christian converts that they don't need help from others in the body of Christ but to go it alone.

Saying the Bible has mistakes or Mans translation is wrong - is saying God is imperfect - you feel good about calling God imperfect - this is the same God that made you?!

My aunt and uncle were Wycliffe Bible Translators --- they spent decades carefully translating the English words of the bible into different languages --- they spent nearly 8 years doing this for a tribe of natives in Brazil --- it's painstaking work ---because they had to check and recheck each page many times - then their helper checks over the same work --- they worked - prayed and stayed at getting one bible done in the tribes native language for nearly 8 years! Translators aren't your average "joes" you pick out at random --they are men and women anointed by God to do this tedious task --- (often it's a thankless task) - In memory of my uncle who died (in Brazil) a devoted worker for his Lord and Savior---
