My church has a ministry that they share with other Christian churches in the area called "Bread of Life" where they serve meals to the poor. They also help homeless people and things like that. And while the hope is that by showing the love of Christ to these people that they will end up becoming Christians themselves, they don't make them listen to a sermon or anything like that. http://www.alcf.net

They are commanded to feed the poor, visit the sick , take care of widows and orphans and minister to prisoners.

What do you atheists do besides criticize Christians who do good work and try to live a good life.? I have't seen the Athesist soup kitchen , in my town.

My wife's from Sri Lanka, and the answer from her is a definite yes.

It's sickening when I see churches raising money for "missions" to third-world countries, not to feed or house them, but to preach to them and hand out free bibles. The evangelical attitude is, let 'em starve to death, just so long as they're the right religion when they die. Disgusting....

Ive heard of this happening in places with crushing poverty, like India (tsunami victims) and Africa. They actually deny services unless you convert.

I guess if fear and coercion dont work, starvation is the next best tool for these sick bastards.

People basically need two kinds of food to live; physical and spiritual and if anybody gets both, thank God.

not so much so they convert... but because we are commanded to do so in the Scriptures... to feed the hungry... to clothe the naked... to take care of the Widows and the Orphans.
