What really ticks me off is when you see someone from your list log on, send them an IM, then they log off without saying hi. I'm sure people log on automatically when they check their e-mail and plan on being on only a minute, but it is REALLY rude and irritating when they log off quickly, after you send an IM, without saying hi. Those are the people whom it is very easy to delete.

Not just on yahoo, but all messengers and chatrooms. Its very rude, they could've had a status busy right now talk later or something. Or even said Hey, can we talk another time as right now I am quite busy sorry. I honestly could never do that. It might have something to do with their upbringing.
Even people who smile at me in the shops and I don't know, I go out of my way to speak with them. Rather than ignoring them even if they are a stranger.

Sometimes people are online with 5 or 6 others at the same time and it is hard to keep conversations going. But I know what you mean. Try not to take it too personally, but if the same person ignores your message 2 or 3 times, don't message them again for awhile. Let them take the hint and contact you, and if they don't, then after a period of time you might want to remove them from the list.

Well I think it's very rude not to say hello back to most people. But some people stay logged on 24/7 and might not be there right when you pm them but they should still send an off line to at least respond.

Actually, sometimes they are logged on to the computer, but not able to get to Yahoo Messenger, like maybe playing games with friends or their kids, or maybe in the middle of something extremely important and by the time they get through it's slipped their mind to send a message to you. I know that has probably happened to me, and NOT being the only one using the computer, my kids aren't gonna go over to tell you it's them not me, they are playing a game and it's most likely timed.
so sometimes there are reasons, and it's not intentional.

That's rude-but if I'm out and I don't know the person who says "hi" I may not answer. I always answer someone on the computer though.

I generally ignore people who randomly IM me. It's not a matter of being rude, it's just I have no desire to chat with a stranger.

i imagine there are deeper issues, in this difficulty, than Yahoo! Messenger being put in on the computer. concentration on and fasten the actual issues, extremely than scapegoating a pc software. in case you imagine that eliminating this system will by some ability fix the topics, achieve this.
