I've been out of the country for almost a year and Im coming back home in like two months and my fiance bought me a white german shepherd puppy, she bought it about two weeks ago and hes 8 weeks old right now, he is very attached to her and he's always with her, by the time I get home he's gonna be 4 months old and even though he's gonna have the mind of a puppy he's gonna be a giant in size he's very inteligent and I have plans to go to K9 school with him and train him as a police dog but first I got to get him to know me and love me and respect me before I start training him, how do I do that since he's so attached to her and he hasn't met me yet?

In the early stages of bringing your puppy home he only had your fiance as a replacement for his other siblings. It's natural he has become very attatched to her but he can always be the same way with you. Spending time with him is good. Play his favorite game with him. Start to take charge in feeding him and brushing him out when you get home. He's young so he'll probably see you as the dominant one and that's good. That's where the respect comes in. Be his friend but let him know your in charge. He isn't a human so don't apply human traits to his behavior. Almost all dogs want to please their owners. I think that if he acts really well around new people then he'll have no problem with you.

you will have to spend time with him. the dog has all ready bonded with her she will always come first. You can still train him to do the job. and training will help form a bond between the two of you. but when work is done he will only have eyes for her. I know this because of my own experience with my doberman who was to be my protection but hubbie was home the first 2 weeks we had him and
the dog could care less for me.

They already have a strong bond, but you can be a good friend to him too, altho their bond will always be strong as well. You need to just find lots of things to do with him, such as the K9 training. Take him on walks, you feed him, give him treats. Just love him and he will love you back.

Most german shepards prefer the primary male in its life no matter how much time the female has spent bonding. Stay close to the dog as much as possible and play with the dog often.

German shepards are very intelligent dogs and love to learn.

If you start training him, he will admire you and give you the same respect. Training is not only fun, but it's a great bonding experience. The more you work with the dog, the more he will get used to you.

Just spend time with him. Dogs are very perceptive, they can tell if you like them. At 4 months, the dog will be pretty big but not a giant. Don't be fearful, let him know that you like him but that you are still dominant (if you let him dictate where to go & what to do, he will).

she has to be ok with letting the bond between her and the dog be expanded to include you. THEN spend as much laying on the couch with the pup on your lap . most bonding comes with the down time closeness . let him sleep beside you. and take over feeding completely. your fiance will have to want this too or it will confuse the pup. he will always be close to her but he can bond with you too. TIME AND FOOD AND PLAY AND SLEEP AND GROOMING.

Hey,
Spend as much time as you can with it, play with it and talk to it all the time as if it were really your best friend. Always use positive reinforcements and never punish it, raise your voice or doing it any physical harm such as hitting or kicking.

Just spend time with him - take him for walks and play ball and fuss over him every opportunity you get. When he sees that you're genuine and want to spend time with you he'll adore you.

Honestly don't stress - he'll love you.
