Being that this land we live in is the land of the free,WHY should anyone have to assimilate?Why can't we all live and let live?
Yes,I know speak English...blah,blah,blah,Other than that what exactly would you want ppl to assimilate to.....would it be ..no more "circus music" and "old english" letters on back windsheilds...no more breeding "like rats".....?Just wondering ppl.

if you think about it, no one can really assimilate to any ones culture. There's all the cultures in the world in one land so what exactly do ignorant ppl expect for people to assimilate to. What is the American way??? People celebrate 4th of july, christmas, and MLk, etc. Other than that, anyone could act however they want.

i don't think people have to assimilate, but it removes big hurdles if they at least try. If you choose to live in another country, it makes things easier if you try to learn the language. Move to France and try to get by not speaking French. Big disadvantage. Move to China or Japan. Same problem. No one is putting a gun to anyone's head. I think it would make things a lot better if people coming into the country, no matter where they are from, would put their pride on the back burner and try to remember that they are in a foreign land and as the old saying goes... When in Rome...

What is your concept of our country.......the borg? We do not assimilate, that's evident by the number of non-English speaking residents or multi-lingual residents. You haven't made a valid point to support any one of your statements. I think America is probably one of the most tolerant countries in the world. On the other hand....I'm a firm believer that if you don't like it here....get the next boat.

Immigrants should be proud to learn English and should not try to make the USA change their laws to cater to them. They should express appreciation for being accepted into our great country and show loyalty and pride in the USA. They should keep their expressions of love and loyalty to their home countries in their own homes, not parade about it down the streets of the cities of the USA! If they want to parade in the streets of the USA, they should be doing so only to express their love and loyalty to the USA! Immigrants should also show respect by coming into the country legally. Anything less is NOT acceptable. ALL illegal immigrants should be deported! No exceptions.

Well, it makes people angry when it seems that people have no interest in making this their "home". It is like the old saying...why marry the cow when you can get the milk for free.
When an imigrant doesn't WANT to consider themselves citizens of the USA, when they just want to use the resources and send the money home it bothers us. When they want to make demands of this country while carrying the flag of another country, it upsets us.
We cant move to Mexico and and protest while waving the USA flag...will get thrown in jail.

But seriously, if we all assimilated together, wouldn't we all end up looking as inbred as the Europeans (especially the British)? I mean, look at those noses, foreheads, and jawlines on those people.
At least we all have our differences, right? We can tell each other apart.

you like those laws do you, freedom etc. have cultures that's great but when those people who want those things are against the majority and waving a different flag from a country that wont give them the same rights and thats the reason they escaped in the first place and then they come here proclaiming love for that crap hole making demands and telling us how our laws don't suit them but we love your other freedom laws just not the immigration laws i see how it is i think the others will too! the majority will win here sorry

Heya dude. Lucky to be alive really has the right answer. Alot of the illegal immigrants do not adhere to the requirements to be eligible for citizenship. All the time I have to talk to a 8 year old kid translator in order to communicate with his or her parents.
