Try having your mom wipe the cat with a wet washcloth all over several times the first day if possible then at least once per day after that. This removes saliva from the cat's fur which is what most people are allergic to. This should give you much relief, also try to get as much of the existing fur off of all surfaces, ie. ceiling fans, curtains, pictures frames, carpet and clothes. It will take some effort but you may find you don't need the meds. For long term results have your mom feed the cat vitamin E oil it helps very much but takes longer to take effect, you would be back to your apt. before it happened.

A good deal of people who are allergic to cats actually adapt over a period of time (my mom did). I don't know what allergy pills you are using but Benedryl is always a good one. I would suggest very gradually exposing yourself to the cat right after you take an allergy pill. Start in small increments of time, such as 10 minutes petting the cat. Try this for a couple of days. If it is going okay, gradually increase your time with the cat.
Don't move in with your boyfriend for a reason like that. Your life totally changes when you live with someone and you may learn things you don't like about him (ie: he throws his clothes in piles in the bedroom). If you want more information, do a search on systematic desensitization, or exposure based therapy. Good luck! Doc

Well, first off, make sure that cat isn't going in the area where you are sleeping. If you have your own room, clean it really well and wash your blankets, etc. and make sure the cat doesn't go in there. Allergy medicine should help control your problems as long as you make sure that cat isn't in your sleeping area. During the day, I suggest going to a library and reading and relaxing...you can be expanding your mind while keeping cool. Take a shower every day, and just avoid the cat as much as possible.
Staying at your ex bf- not a good idea. That's probably just going to get really messy.
Good luck!

I suggest going to the doc and starting allergy shots. That should help with the cat situation.
Also, take a set of sheets, and pillowcases out of the house to wash them.. wash them at a laundry mat.. bring them back in to the house, and close the door so the cat doesn't go in that room.
That should help at least the nighttime symptoms.
Don't live with the ex if you want any relationship with him.
