No, it's fine. Their mouth is cleaner than ours, unless you mean is that gross for the dog? The only nasty thing is, they could give their dog a really upset stomach, this would cause some vapors that could peel the paint off the walls, LOL

My dogs get to lick the plates after we're done eating, occasionally. It gets well rinsed and then goes through the dishwasher. I don't see any problem with this. I am the one eating off the plate next anyways. ...and if it is going to be someone else, and they are offended with this (most of my friends do the same thing too, so they don't really care) then they are more than welcome to bring their own plate, or use a paper plate instead! :)

No a dogs mouth is cleaner then a persons and well dogs like simple treats even if its just licking the grease off the plate. my dog does it all the time. And I clean my plates really well!

No, we let my dog do it, why not give the dog a little treat, besides we wash the plate anyways, it's not like we let the dog clean it or anything.

We do the same thing with our dogs. Nothing nasty about it. Washing the plate afterwards kills the germs.

I don't care if it ISN"T nasty - it's repulsive!
I love dogs - let them eat from their own plates. Look at it another way - what if WE gave something to the dog!?!

no if the dog licks his butt and the friend kisses the dog then eating out of the same plate can;t be all that bad

I think it is. I will sometimes let my dogs have a scrap of meat after I eat but I put it in their bowls so they are not begging for food
