I think that if people are going to support the fight on terrorism, then they will have to support passports being required to go to and from all foreign countries. Like it or not, Canada is another country.

I absolutely support that anyone entering the U.S. should be carrying a valid passport. It's unfortunate that some people cannot afford the cost of a U.S. Passport ($67 + $8 photos + postage), but we must secure our borders. We used to be "safe" from terrorism and protected by natural barriers of the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans, but modern life (airplanes + ships) have changed the dynamics of terrorism (and transportation/transmission of new diseases). I will be renewing my passport this week. Our passports will now have the electronic chips.

I agree with passport control between all countries on one condition: using smartcard passports. The world should start to eliminate paper passports and start adopting smartcard passports. I should not tell you about the advantages of this concept, because they are enourmous. But it has some disadvantages too which need to be discussed and resolved asap.

I don't have a problem with it, but then, I already have a passport.
